I was reading the Jaws thread and it gave me an idea for a poll. Which is better? Jaws or Deep Blue Sea. My choice would have to be Deep Blue Sea.

Gosh, I know... Deep Blue Sea has got this in the bag! :p
Jaws is a classic shark attack movie. Nothing has beat it to this date, and I don't think anything will.

after seeing jaws MILLIONS of people were afraid to get in any body of water. After DBS i think most of us were just scared that LL cool J would be in the sequel.

I really like both of these movies. Jaws is a classic and Deep Blue sea is somewhat original. What I like about DBS is it is unpredictable. What I thought was going to happen really didnt, plus you cant beat those chomping scenes..

I love both films. Deep Blue Sea is all action though, while JAWS actually put fear into people's hearts concerning sharks. Crazy.

Deep Blue Sea would've been better if the F/X's would've been better but jaws iz a classic
Deep Blue Sea had its moments, but Jaws is a true classic and it was scarier than Deep Blue Sea.

Deep Blue Sea can't hold Jaws jock strap.

The only reason I voted Deep Blue Sea is because i've never seen jaws. Whenever i go to buy it it's not in stock and whenever i go to rent it it is not in stock. crazy as hell isn't it.

u gotta think of the year jaws was made it was like 78 or something anyways its OLD and DBS had computer F/X so of course DBS iz gonna have more gory death seens
FreddyFan
11-11-2003, 03:09 PM
Yeah DBS would have better deaths but it's more of how scary the movie is. DBS didn't make people afraid to go in the ocean or any other body of water. Jaws did. That's what matters. I think if it's older it's going to be better because they don't try to use a lot of new F/X. Even though some new ones are good.

Deep Blue Sea, only because it doesn't have any shitty sequals after it.

Deep Blue Sea sucked ass. I don't care about Sequels, Jaws is way better.

Deep Blue Sea vs Jaws proves that practical effects are more convincing than digital. everything is digital these days and there needs to be some restraint.
DBS is way too complicated to start with. Too unlikely. Jaws is unrealistic (Peter Benchly is a retard), but it is cocievable that a shark might decide to make humans it's main prey.
However, what company on earth would invest the millions of dollars necesarry to make an underwater test facility to use genetically engineered mako sharks to study alzheimers? i imagine using mice in a lab would be more cost effective. They would use apes long before sharks.

I enjoyed both of these movies, only difference is I enjoyed Jaws 50x more.

uh...Renny Harland directed Deep Blue Sea. He's one of the worst directors of all time. I won't even mention his Nightmare movie, but think about it....Cut Throat Island, Driven, Long Kiss Goodnight (yes, he somehow managed to screw up a Shane Black script), Cliff Hanger, and how could I forget the second Die Hard movie? Plus, he dresses like he should be on the cover of a romance novel. Gena Davis even divorced him for, among other things, trashing her career with bad movies.

I can agree with all that, but Ford Fairlane is still one of the greatest cult films ever.

Deep Blue Sea sucked! The shark in Jaws still looks more real than that piece of shit in Deep Blue Sea.

Jaws is the best. DBS was ok.. considering i was alittle younger when i was it. but, Jaws is a classic and it did scare me to go in the water. so hands down Jaws wins my vote. DBS should have stayed in the lab and never even ventured out. Thast what i say

These are two great movies, but Jaws is superior. Its an absolute classic, and truly deserved the upgrade onto Blu-ray.

Silly question... ::big grin::
Actually, I was very hyped for Deep Blue Sea (DBS), as I had sketched many film treatises very similar to that of DBS, which let's just call it "smart sharks". And I can tell you I was very, very, very disappointed with DBS.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy it a bit... but I'd stand on any soapbox to say it was underwhelming, to say the least.

I really didn't like either. DBS was a bit silly, and Jaws gave those poor misunderstood sharks a bad name for a long time. ::sad::

Jaws by a country mile. But I will take Deep Blue Sea over part 2 and Revenge any day. Part 3 was the first Jaws movie I ever saw so it holds a special place in my heart.

I'll always love Jaws. It's a classic film. I still remember when I first watched the movie when I was young and for awhile I was absolutely terrified of going into the ocean. ::big grin::

My favourite movie of all time is the awesome JAWS.
I truly cannot believe that there is even a vote on this.
