What a horrible film! Statred out good, then fell apart into a dribbling, slow rash of a film. British crap at it's best.

A British films in general can be crap. Are all of them? No, but the many of them are. From the many that I have seen, I do not see much in the way of great story telling. (Please, for the love of all that is good, don't pull out Monty Phython) The styling of the films are bland, the most they can usally pull off is decent King Arthur film from time to time.

Oh and just because a film has a British producer ($$$) doesn't mean the film is a British film!!
If I remember correctly this film stared Jamie Lee Curtis, who did this film shortly after Halloween, and it took place in the States! So HTF is it British Crap?

DEAN CUNDEY ASC
Born: 1945, Alhambra, Los Angeles, USA, as Dean A. Cundey.
Education: School of Theater, Film and Television of the University of California, Los Angeles [UCLA] [1968-70].
Career: Got his start handling makeup for 2 Roger Corman productions: 'Naked Angels' [1969, d: Bruce Clark, ph: Robert Eberlein] and 'Gas-s-s-s!/Gas!' [1970, d: Roger Corman, ph: Ron Dexter; + c.op 3rd cam]. After that he scrambled for several years doing pickup shots/inserts and assisting film editors. Became gaffer. In order to increase his marketability as a cinematographer, Cundey outfitted a location truck with camera and grip equipment - then included himself - in what was a complete filmmaking package. 'It became my foot-in-the-door on a lot of low-budget films. I was able to provide a complete package of equipment and also myself to a producer. Having my own equipment meant that I could do a better job. So it was a win-win situation.' He shot some 20-25 films for people who rented his van. Ph commercials [dir by Sam Raimi, Bruce Logan, David Hogan, John Glenn, Kevin Dole, a.o.] and music videos. Was interviewee in 'Visions of Light: The Art of Cinematography' [1991]. Appeared in the doc's 'The Making of "Jurassic Park"' [1995, John Schultz; ph: Shawn Maurer], 'The Thing: Terror Takes Shape' [1998, Michael Matessino; 83m], "'Halloween' Unmasked 2000" [1999, Mark Cerulli], 'Tales from the Mist: Inside the Fog' [2001, prod: Jeffrey Schwarz; 28m] and 'Halloween: A Cut Above the Rest' [2003, Steven Smith]. Honorary member of the SOC.
Awards: BSC Award nom [1988], 'Oscar' AA nom [1989] & BAFTA Film Award nom [1989] for 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'; ASC Award nom [1992] for 'Hook'; BSC Award nom [1995], BAFTA Film Award nom [1996] & ASC Award nom [1996] for 'Apollo 13'.

no, your "bad" was to stumble across people who ACTUALLY know about horror films.

Okay, well I'm not a fan of slasher films ... particularly because this particular type of horror has followed the path of comedy and gore over scares. But, Halloween was not like this. It generally tries to be frightening, and it was to its generation. I don't see how Carrie was a weak film, though. Taking into consideration the technology available, it was well-made and Sissy Spacek's performance is one of the most memorable in the genre. I know you don't have a problem with the story, because you lauded King's work (story-wise) in another thread.
Even so, what do you consider to be good horror? Please list some films.

Slasher films are a sub-genre of Horror Films, you can't say that slasher aren't horror cause they are!
You obviously must not really like horror films, cause basically all you do is BASH all of them!

lmao! That thread was great!
I loved Stingy's post about our vultures hanging out drooling just waiting for something else stupid to be said. Classic!
It's obvious to me that TrueFan doesn't know much about horror at all and only showed up to get a rise out of people.
There is just no possible way that someone who is an actual horror fan would try to say that 1. The Fog is a British film. and 2. John Carpenter directed Carrie.
Those two statements lead me to believe that when it comes to horror, he doesn't know his head from his ass...
That being said, I would like to thank everyone who flamed this guy for being an idiot. (I would have jumped right in, but I didn't come to this thread soon enough. :( So I missed out. )

And he did. And he continues to. And you continue to. And so forth. And so on.
He probably hasn't even seen The Fog, or cares to.
But keep going, if you think you'll coax him into breaking down: "AAAGGHHH -- You're right! I've gone TOO FAR and it was YOU FOLKS who set me straight!! Your barbed comments have driven me to my knees, I beg forgiveness, forgive my smarmy behaviour!!! Lord have mercy on my piss-coated soul..."

You are absolutely right that he won't ever come on here and post that, but you are absoultely wrong int hinking that's what we want to see out of him in the first place.
It's less about wanting him to realize he's an idiot and verbally acknowledging that and more about making him feel like a complete fucking tard. I couldn't care less whether or not he ever acknowledges it, (or even if he ever comes back to this site again for that matter), at least he knows that everyone (or at least most everyone) here knows he is fool.

Both versions of "The Fog" were secretly made by Gerry Anderson. He knew he couldn't sell them in the international market unless viewers perceived these films to be American. So he hired talented British and Canadian actors who specialized in American voices. "The Fog" is British crap, pure and simple.
