Nobody really goes to the music section so. Alright yes think back to the time of the Jheri curl and Makeup for men. What is your favorite 80s song? Mine would have to be Blister in the Sun by The Violent Femmes. Or Beat My Guest by Adam and the Ants

My songs won't fall into the typical '80s' category, but I was into Bad Religion and NOFX towards the late 80s and I've never looked back.
Best 80s Song = 'Pity' by Bad Religion
Okay, now that I've made my real taste known, I'll answer with more typical 80s tunes....
Michael Jackson - Thriller
R.E.M. - Losing My Religion
Guns N Roses - Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine and anything else off of Appetite
Metallica - One, Master of Puppets, Unforgiven (Might have been early 90s)
One song I always thought sucked, but had an entertaining video was Lionel Richie - Dancing on the Ceiling

Poison: Give me somthing to believe in
The 80's had some of the worst music of any decade, IMO. And while I'll agree with MD2 that Hotel California was indeed a great tune, it doesn't qualify, seeing that it came out in 1976.

What????? Come on! The 80's SUCKED when it came to music! I think you guys are all just basing your opinions on personal associations you have with those songs. If you looked at them objectively, you would realize that it was all pretty crappy music.
HOWEVA:
I liked Blister in the Sun, too. That's one of those "gets stuck in my head" songs.
And: Punk Rock Girl by the Dead Milkmen.
I liked a lot of They Might Be Giants tunes, too. Particularly Istanbul, Particle Man, and Anna Ng.
Thriller is good, too. Although I hate M.J.

Rock me Amadeus-???
anything by the Police
any and all metal in any form
DRI, Suicidal Tendancies, and the list could go on for days
I confess I love Cyndi Lauper, mostly cos I thought she was HOOOOTTTTTT
How foolish of me-Rock the Casba- the Clash
I went to a website of 80s songs to see if my first comment that "80s music sucked" was valid. It pretty much is. Sure there was some good stuff, of course Bowie, and some ZZ Top, Pat Benatar,U2,Van Halen, even a few B 52s and a couple Men AT Work, but for the most part.....much suckage. I was never into "The Hair Bands" i.e. Warrant,Poison,Cinderalla,Scorpions,Motley Crue,Skid Row and many more. And there was a lot of "Disco" type music left over from the late 70s. [hated disco with a passion ].

However my favorite song was the Bangles' version of "Hazy Shade of Winter."
Forgot one... Siouxie and the Banshees.

Oingo Boingo. We were talking about Danny Elfman in another thread a while back and it got me thinking about his band. So I put on one of their old Cds I have...Boingo Alive...to be exact and here is my thoughts on what transpired. Which kinda fits into this thread. I loved this cd maybe twelve or thirteen years ago but after listening to it now [and this goes for a lot of 80s music ] it kinda sucks. Think about a lot of the music you listened to during that time period and you'll see.....it just doesn't hold up. Now listen to a lot of earlyer stuff, Stones, Doors, Allman Bros, Floyd,Skynyrd,Deep Purple,Beatles, all great music that doesn't seemed dated even today. OK maybe a little dated , but its still very listenable. Now try that with some A-HA, or Ratt or maybe a little Wang Chung...............everybody get down tonight, everybody wang chung tonight.....hmmm..that was kinda catchy.;)
