No it definately didn't suck. It was a good movie, and supposedly the scariest of all time.

Are you insane! The Exorcist sucked? Sure it's not exactly the scariest or goriest film ever made..but sucky? c'mon!
Besides this film, was great for its time, and alot of people were upset when it came out, mostly 'cus of the 'crucifixion' masturbation scene, where she's screaming 'fuck me! fuck me!'

I liked Exorcist and even Exorcist III, but this one just doesn't seem very interesting to me.

I don't come from a Christian or Catholic family, so I never found any of the Exorcist movies scary, though I did enjoy the first and thrid one like I said above. A bit too preachy, but well made. But if your not Christian, the Devil becomes more or less a storybook character and becomes much less scary on film.

I was 9 when it first came out. I begged my older cousin to take me, but she wanted to see it first. After seeing it with a friend, she said no way, and told me later she slept with the lights on for over a week because the movie was so scarey for her.

I can't wait to see The Beginning, it sounds really good. The first may not have been scary, but it was still a good movie to watch.

This your opinion, I'm assuming. Cause the cinema going public at the time to the present day public say different. This film was a great film. For its time. I believe it paved the way for horror films of its kind.
And the trailer for The Beginning looks awsome. Can't wait.
My point was that alot of people, and you're right most of them were Christians, Catholics who were upset because of the scene I mentioned earlier in this thread. I myself am a God fearing person, but I didn't boycot the film because of that scene. I own a copy of it in fact.

It's hard to create a good sequel when it follows one of the greatest horror movies ever but hopefully they'll make it work. I've heard that they went through at least one director while filming which isn't a good sign, but I've also heard a rumor that some theaters aren't going to play the movie because it's too scary :). Most likely that's all hype to build the movie but someone can hope can't they?

The Beginning looks good, but I think that most of the "scary" parts will be repeats from the first film :S
I'm still looking forward to seeing it though!:)

Yes I've herd of it. Though I'm not sure if it's based on true events of if its just another way to get money. Either way, I wont be seeing it any time soon. Never was a big fan of The Exorcist. The only reason I watched it was because I herd it was based upon true events. Then again I've only watched The Exorcist III though I do want to view the first one.

this from someone who said they liked "I still know what you did last summer"? Interesting....
And you do not have to be religious to be scared by the exorcist. i am an athiest, but the first one used to scare the shit out of me. The concept of a girl being overcome by pure evil is scary, wether or not you believe in the devil.
PLus, with the subliminal images, it sets you on edge no matter what. that fuckign death face is awful.

I always the origin of possession by the devil sounded like a better (and more scary) story than Regan being possessed. Problem is after viewing the original Exorcist can you still be affected in the same way by a prequel created 30 years later?
