I am a new member and just wanted to take a moment to say hello. I am a black female, in my mid-forties. I was first introduced to horror at the ripe age of four. There I sat next to my father watching the Twilight Zone (which, if I remember correctly was in black and white). It was an episode involving a scarab and a man's skin and organs slowly dissipate into dust, leaving only a skeleton. I was terrified, my mother was livid with my father but I was hooked. My Dad also had a box of horror comics. Does anyone remember the Witching Hour? Many of my best memories are of my father taking me to see horror movies: My Bloody Valentine, Horror Train and, of course, The Exorcist. I am an avid reader of Graham Masterton, James Hurbert, HP Lovecraft, Brian Lumly, Stephen King, and Peter Straub. I just finished a very interesting book by Gary A. Braunbeck, In Silent Graves. It was very different and very wonderful. I will no doubt spend most of my time on the book forum but hope to enter many interesting conversations with others on the various forums.

Annabel, I, personally, am excited that you are a member. Believe or not, I am currently reading In Silent Graves by Braunbeck! I am a big fan of his, and subscribed to Cemetery Dance magazine simply because he does a lot of work for that publication. If you can, hunt down my Halloween III thread in the General Forum. In it, I provide a review of the film written by Braunbeck. I think you would like it.
By the way, don't tell me how the book ends. I think I may need to start it over, because I set it aside for too long and it is a pretty complex story. I was confused when I picked it up again, since I couldn't remember what had transpired.
Anyway, welcome!
Maybe you can breathe some life into that book forum. It is usually pretty dead.

Thanks to everyone for the warm greetings. As for Freddy, well . . .
I post at work so I seem to be on a different schedule than most. I am going to have to access the site at night after I get home.
To Stingy Jack: You will have to pick up again if it has been awhile on In Silent Graves. Immediately upon finishing the novel, I had to re-read parts of it again. I will have to read Cemetary Dance, I am really impressed by Braunbeck's style of writing. Much different than some of the other horror writers I like to read.

I remember Dark Shadows. We would come home from school and it would be on the television. I must say I enjoy more now than when I was jr. high. This isn't horror but I will now really date my self. Remember Johnny Quest, and I don't mean on the Cartoon Channel.:p
