I normally do tech support for cable internet. Well, one of our main fiber lines was severed going to our largest service area, so our support center that normally takes 700 calls a day is now taking 3000+. So I'm doing regular cable customer service.

I feel for you ege. We had a problem with a server that affects roughly 90% of our users hiccup yesterday and we are STILL having to fix everyone manually.

Imagine 1700 people worldwide, and you have to spend 15 to 30 minutes on the phone with each one of them...

where i work, our department looks after about 1600 pc's, servers and laptops...then imagine one big flat lan.....all it takes is one numbskull to get a virus and our network can grind to a halt.

on those days it can be awful...though not as bad as 3000 calls

The company i work for makes routers that can shut off the wall drop aninfected computer is connected to and stop a virus from spreading at the source...Good equipment, but the people who work for this company are dumb....many of them anyway

I could never work on telephones all day, I'd get pissed off and probably smash the phone to bits, cant stand dumb asses with trivial problems like......"errr my pc stopped working, how do I make it work again" etc etc etc... have a couple of friends doing this support, the amount of noncense calls they get each day is unbelieveable, some people should not be allowed near a Pc.
