View Full Version : WTF is up with Day of the Dead 2?

I can't wait for Day of the Dead 2, but can't they change the name? It doesn't make sense to call it Day of the Dead 2 when, its suppose to happen at the same time as NOTLD from a different POV. Its dumb, since now George Romero is making Land of the Dead, which is suppose to be a sequel to Day of the Dead. Change the fucking name! ;) :D

What the fuck are you talking about?!?!
Are you on about Day of the Dead: Contagium?[which is [i think but could be wrong] a kind of remake thing, a low budget sequel to the new Dawn] Cause theres that, and Land of the dead as you mentioned [which would be THE PROPER, AND ONLY sequel to Day: Notld=1 Dawn=2 Day=3 and Land being 4]
Hate_Breeder
07-19-2004, 12:48 PM
ok
Day of the Dead is in no way affiliated with the new Dawn of the Dead. Day of the Dead is made by a different filmmaker and it is supposed to be a prequel to Day of the Dead....and yes hopefully it is going to be good
JokerMONEY3000
07-19-2004, 05:19 PM
Let me explain, its NOTLD, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, & then Land of the Dead. But they have Day of the Dead 2: Contagium coming out. It looks good, but the title doesn't make sense. Day of the Dead 2 is suppose to take place at the same time as NOTLD, but from a different POV. Its at the same time but some where else. It sounds good, but the name of it doesn't fit. Its called Day of the Dead TWO. Its like their trying to make a sequel to George Romeros trilogy. Even tho theirs a forth film on the way.

Actually its called Day of the Dead:Contagium so the name makes a little more sense.
JokerMONEY3000
07-20-2004, 04:03 PM
lol, oh shit, I saw it in a couple of places where it was called Day of the Dead 2, but it does make alot more sense. Its kinda like when Tremors 4, its a prequel.

Uhm...isn't the new Day of the Dead a remake of the OG? Just like there was a NOTLD remake and a remake for Dawn of the Dead?

Nope because the original Day of the Dead was underground remember? The new Day of the Dead is set in a Mental Hospital. And there is no Bub there for...........this is not a remake.

I really dislike it when comapanies just rip off a name to hopefully get more attention for themselves. As I understand now it's going to be called Day of the Dead: Contagium, hopefully they will end up with just Contagium and drop the dead title. It's going to be a prequel I guess to Romero's Day of the Dead, but since the remake of Dawn of the Dead just came out I'm sure lots of people will assume it's a sequel to the remake. If they keep the "Day" title it's going to kind of ruin it for the "Dawn" remake people if they wanted to continue their story, something that would upset me because I was quite a big fan of the "Dawn" remake. Anyway, I saw a pretty low quality trailer for Contagium (not sure if it was just a demo or actual footage from the movie) and it didn't look to promising. Sort of reminded me of ROTLD 3, pretty low budget and cheesy.

Romero managed to obtain a pretty good budget for "Land" but with the positives come the negatives. It's almost a given that Romero isn't go to be able to convince the movie studio to use all unknown actors, he's said in an interview that he will push for it to happen but he isn't confident. Also the film will have to be filmed with an R rating, understandable because no movie theater would carry it otherwise. Good thing however is that Romero has been given permission to shoot the movie his way, NC-17 or whatever. So when the DVD comes out I'm sure we'll see almost a completely different version.
JokerMONEY3000

Why is he not happy with an R rating. You can do so much with R. I dunno many NC-17 films

You don't know many NC-17 films because major movie studios would never fund an NC-17, an account of the money it would loose from not getting any theater play. NOTLD was unrated, not sure if it would have made NC-17 but it's possible at the time. Dawn and Day were both NC-17, lots would have been cut out to get it down to an R rating.

Day of the Dead:Contagium is a prequeal of Day, I am hoping it is the other parts of Ramero's original script.
And I can't wait until Land of The Dead.
I wasn't born when the first three came out, and I was too young to see Savini's remake, so now I can atleast see SOMETHING Ramero in theaters.
Like DOTD:Contagium.
and LOTD
I saw the remake of Dawn in theaters, it was pretty decent but my friend was being an asshole and screaming through the hole damn movie.

I like how two great people made such a good movie.

we talking adam sandler and damon wanyes bulletproof? cause if we are that james caan not dennis hopper - d'oh
and as for contagium....
cheap ass return of the night of the living dead rip-oof hap hazardly thrown together after such sucessful flims like dawn 04 and 28days later to cash in on the now growing popularity of zombie flicks...
it has nothing to do with ANY of romero's films and shouldn't be associated with them at all
it more follows the rotld plot line dealing with chemical spills and zombie outbreaks...if you watch return of the living dead they even referece a hospital in 1968 where a chemcial spill did indeed turn paitents into zombies, and the outbreak was covered up. that is where these filmakers got there idea...although not proven in the romero triolgy the idead that radition from a passing comet caused the dead to rise is hinted at in news casts in night of the living dead '68 - see maxium overdrive as a spinoff of this

I have to disagree with Avenger, I watched the nine minute trailer and was very disappointed..It had shitty camera work, the guns sound like fucking cap guns, and the acting was horrible..
Granted they did say that some of the special effects had not been added in yet, but if you are going to put out a trailer based on the name of one of the best zombie films ever you better have your shit together.
Sadly this movie is going to suck ass big time.

you know the guy who made ROTLD helped make the original night, right?
and I don't care if they suck or not, I still want to see them.
I have been watching these movies since I was like 9 or 10.
I MUST SEE DEAD FILM IN THEATRE!
and 28 days later, was really a "zombie" flick as in the creature feature term which is "undead zombies back from the dead"
28 days later is resident evil, and the dead films put together and based in britain.
And the main character looks strangely like my old coach.

I get confused, but let me ask. First comes NOTLD, an then George Romero an the other guy split an made 2 different movies, Romero had the right to use Dead, an the other guy could use Living Dead, so then Romero made Dawn of the Dead, an Day of the Dead, an the other guy made ROTLD, an ROTLD 3?
NOTLD
Romero
Dawn of the Dead
Day Of The Dead

ROTLD
ROTLD 3
So NOTLD is the original, an they both made different sequels for the same movie>?
