BERLIN (Reuters) - Blondes perform intelligence tests more slowly after reading jokes playing on their supposed stupidity, said psychologists in a newly published German study.
Some 80 women of various hair colors were tested on their mental capacity to work quickly and precisely in a series of psychometric tests. Before sitting the tests, half the participants had to read "dumb blonde" jokes, such as:
"Why do blondes open yogurt pots while still at the supermarket? -- Because it says 'Open Here' on the lid."
"No blonde woman believes she is stupid," said Jens Foerster a social psychologist from the International University Bremen in northern Germany on Wednesday.
"But after exposure to negative social-stereotypes about them, the fair-haired participants performed significantly more slowly in the tests."
Foerster explained the result by saying that when people are told they can't perform a task well, they work more slowly but more cautiously, to try to make fewer mistakes.
"The study shows that even unfounded prejudices generally dismissed as untrue can affect an individual's confidence in their own ability," said Foerster.

Quantum physics, eh? OKay, do you believe there is any validity to string theory? It is scary subject, because it makes sense, but modern technology has no way to prove/disprove the theory.
Do you agree that if they were able to prove it, that it would support (or even solve) the problem of Grand Unification?
:D

So happens I know a lot about string theory. Also how gravity is supposedly unified with other forces of nature. The idea of string is that no matter in the Universe is disconnected, and that there are more than the three dimentions that we perceive.
The three dimensions are embedded in a 3-brane 3D membrane that has more dimensions and an extra one for time. So the theory goes...................

Sweet, i was actually hoping you knew some of this... I caught some of "The Elegant Universe" on public television the other day so it has been popping around in my head. I have a series of SCI Fi stories i have been working on since i was 19 that borrows a LOT from fantasy, but has scientific explanations for everything, so coming up with real-world excuses for things like magic and alchemy required a significant amount of study into Physics. Did a lot of study on Chaos (now complexity  ) theory as well

I have read alot on this subject particularily because it ties into my religion. Basically states what Buddhism has been saying for thousands of years. There is a site I went to with very old Buddhist text, and you would think it was a modern scientist speaking Arthur Clarke re:2001 has referred to all of this in something I read..........so I have been exploring it!
One site is www.mystae.com/restricted/reflections/buddha.html
I hope that is right.....really interesting!
No..........not dumb LOL! But I can play too!;)
