Okay...I tried to hijack a thread with this because I was curious...It didn't work, so I decided to make my own:p ...So...Anyway...
What did you think the very first time that you laid eyes on your significant other?
With my ex husband, the first time I saw him I thought that he was an arrogant, egotistical, shallow, asshole...Not sure why I married him after all of that...Anyway...He turned out to be an arrogant, egotistical, shallow, asshole...So...Sometimes first impressions can be intuitive
As for my current (and last) boyfriend...Well...I already posted that I thought he might be a girl:D...Anyway...I was wrong about that one, and really happy about it, too:)
So, what about you guys?...What went through your head the first time you got a look at your honey?
***I'm a little worried about Vodstock's reply here, because his girl is really hot:D  ***

Don't have one. Don't want one.
I really just don't understand women. Every woman that I've ever dated (all 19 of them) are completely obsessive and overly emotional. My fiance hit me in the leg with a steel bar. As you could guess, she is no longer my fiance.
Women are fucking psycho and unrational. Sorry ladies, I know that's not always the case, but GODDAMN.

lol.... I was wondering how long I could string it along...
but back on topic...
When I met my first actuall love, it was truly love at first sight. I was dating someone else at the time, went out with some friends and met this girl while I was there. I fell so hard, I immediately went back to the other girls house to break it off with her so that I could come back and not feel guilty about getting to know her better.

When I first met my wife, the one thing that struck me about her was her eyes. They are a brilliant green, and since she has pale skin and black hair they stand out all the more. As far as her personality goes, I was really intimidated by her. She was a philosophy major at the University at the time, and she had this confidence that was overpowering. Her conversation was deep and thoughtful, and I was so worried that I was going to say something stupid. She is also a very shrewd business woman. When we met, she was wearing a dress and a green blazer. I had on some stupid windbreaker. I felt like I was in an interview when I was talking with her! :)

Sounds like the kind of woman I want. Someone who is strong willed, who knows what they want. Someone who actually wants to do something with their life instead of just rotting away.
I'm coming to steal your wife, Jack.

on topic:
He's not actually my significant other I guess, but he's my best friend and I have the hugest crush on him. I remember thinking how cool it was that he came up and talked to me, he was really outgoing. Of course the first thing we talked about was how much he liked my best friend, which was a tad dissapointing lol. He was (and still is) a little cocky, but I like to call that confidence. I also remember how pretty I thought his eyes were. He was just really charming and charismatic, it was love at first sight
*sigh*

The first time I met my ex husband I thought he was a dork from hell. Not the good kind though. Then I saw him a couple months later and I thought he was a pig, but he was so unbelievably hot. We made out a couple times in a 2 year time span. Then we lost touch. A few years later we started talking again, and he had changed. He was so amazing. He helped me figure my head out, and he knew me in every way. We were best friends, and then we got engaged. Turns out he is a physically and emotionally abusive, slutty, lying, self-loathing prick. I never thought I would regret our relationship, but I do. 5 years of my life wasted on a pile of turd.

No. I usually consider situations like that learning experiences, but this was just all wrong. I miss those 5 years. I could have been having fun instead of crying every single day. I probably should have cut it short in the first place. Damn me and my drive to work things out!

The first time I met my ex-fiance I thought, Wow...he's hot, smart, funny, totally BF material. After a couple months he proposed. We were together for 4 years...til last April when I broke things off. He's still a great person...we're just not going in the same direction anymore.

My first real friend seemed like a real mysterious, gothic kind of gal. Turns out shes not all that mysterious and goes "like, oh my God" when she talks and she goes crazy when she breaks a nail. Pathetic. Truely pathetic. So that next day when i woke up and looked over to her next to me in the bed, I smiled and said as she woke up, "why the fuck are you still here? Get the hell out of my house bitch!" So she went out crying. It was so funny. Ever see a Barbie doll cry? I laughed and laughed.

I don't go for that "love at first sight" sort of thing. I though my ex-ex was fabulous the first time I saw him, sweet...yadda yadda yadda. He turned out to be a piece of shit.
Most guys fall for two things about me: knowledge and my eyes. The rest of me is sort of plain.

I agree. "Love at first sight" is a crock of shit. Anyone who tells you they fell in love at first sight is confused as to what love really is. You can't love someone without knowing them first. Without respecting, admiring, and trusting them. Those things come with time -- not a glance. "Love at first sight" really means: "I wanted to fuck this person right away!" Not love at all.

Thats so cynical! I'd like to believe that there is one soul mate for everyone. There are lots of people close to being perfect for you, but there's only one thats really truly meant to be with you. If I were to meet my one and only I'd like to think that I would know at first sight.

This is a strange thing to say, seeing as you're an atheist. :D I mean, I agree that there is someone out there who is perfect for you (compatibility-wise), and you may find this person incredibly attractive when you first lay eyes on him. But, you have to get to know him before you can say you love him. Otherwise, that ain't love.
