It requires a somewhat beefy computer system.

Minimum specs:

1Ghz processor
256MB RAM
5.4GB (ouch!) of hard drive space
Geforce 3 Ti-200 video card or above

The game: Silent Hill 3

This game is the scariest game I have ever played. It blows Resident Evil right out of the water. By "scariest", I mean the ONLY game that has ever scared me. Period.

You MUST play this game. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Wasn't scary. Not to me anyway. But still a pretty good game.

Seriously, if you think it was scary on the PS2, you should try it on a high end computer. The graphics are just phenomenal on a high end pc compared to the PS2 version (and even those are realistic looking).

I need a better computer. I can't even play some of the shitty kids' games I buy my daughter. I bought a new video card, but it totally cooked itself. <sigh>

You're talking to the right guy then. I build gaming systems for people in my spare time.

What kind of money are you thinking of investing? What parts do you have already?

They take a while to get used to. I forced myself to play it for a couple of days, and managed to get used to it. Once you get past the funky controls, it's a pretty cool game.

I finished it and it's not THAT scary. Maybe I had my expectations too high because of all the fuss about it online, but it's just not that scary.

The monsters are... cool, but not scary (only the nurses "scared" me), the mood is creepy and in the beginning we get spooked by it, but it's a matter of time until we get used to it and it all turns a bit repetitive, the monsters and all...

Anyway it's a very cool and entertaining game, I totally agree that everyone should play it.

Maybe my problem was that I started with Silent Hill 3, I didn't play 1 or 2 first, so maybe I didn't get inside the story that much.

Well, the problem is that 3 is a direct sequel to 1. Part 2 is really more of a side story, but is the best in the series, in my opinion. The story will make a lot more sense if you play the first game. Anyway, I love the Silent Hill series. Except for The Room. That was a bit of a disappointment.
