So I bought a car. It's a white 1987 Pontiac Trans AM. I'm in a very good mood because I got a really good deal and I've always wanted a TA.

It definately needs a new paint job and the interior isn't in the best shape, the front brakes need to be repaired but the rest of the car is in A1 shape. Only 76,000 miles on it aswell.

This is the official "What was your first car /what do you want your first car to be." thread.

Be realistic. If you're 16 and don't have a job, Dodge Viper is not an answer.

leper messiah indeed!! (I noticed your a 'tallica fan if no-one else does!!)

My first car was a shagged VW golf (do they have them in the states? Its a family type hatchback) which had shit in the fuel filter and stalled every 200 yards or so. I had to keep getting out and shaking the fuel filter and then get back in and start it up. It was a fuckin nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive got a Rover Metro now (every single Uk member of this forum has just pissed themselves laughing!!!). Bollocks to the lot of you!!!!!!! it moves (just about!)

My next car should be another VW Golf, 45k on the clock, silver, 5 door, alloys, about 8-9k, full VW service history-not that im planning it. Anyone got one going for sale? Give us a msg.

\m/ Rock on

Never heard of a rover metro. Around here the Geo Metro is often the butt of a "your car sucks" joke, coincidence?

My first car was a red 66 Chevelle SS396 that my dad restored for me....

I was lucky enough to have a dad that loved hot rods and built race cars...

It's probably a scooter with glow sticks glued to the bottom for neon and rims wrapped in aluminum foil.

they certainly do.

I orignally had a few cars on a list of potential buys that I liked, It came to a final choice between an Audi A4 or the BM. Read reviews and got some info on specs and stuff to compare, but still wanted the BM, I just realy like the shape of the compact, and it's quite a bit shorter than the A4. It's got decent power, good comfort and a largish boot, which I need for golf and stuff.

Just gota find a decent one with the extras now in good nick. Was gona go through a main BMW dealer, but would cost me more, so probably be a private buy.

For my first I had a 67 GMC pickup with a 327, and it was black. Later on I bought one of those black Dodge Warlock trucks, (it was used) everybody thought I was worshipping the devil then....Both of those trucks had big seats, great for dates.

My first car was a Ford Escort. Bought it spankin' new when I was making 900 a week selling satellite dishes to backwoods hicks. I had to quit that job, though. Too many wild dogs.

I gave that car to my sister, for her to take over the payments, when she got married. In exchange, I got a 1989 Dodge Shadow.

I drove that thing until the engine cracked.

Then I owned a 1999 Ford Explorer minivan. I was doing the family thing then, but it started quivering and stuff. I sold it to my best friend for 1000.00.

Two days later, the engine cracked in it on him.

I never saw him again.

Now I drive a 2001 Dodge Stratus. I totally ripped off the salesman. It was his third day on the job, and I walked onto the lot and said: "How much is this?"

He said: "How much are you looking to spend?"

I said: "About 900."

He said: "That's about the price of it. Someone JUST traded it in."

I said: "I'll take it." It had 24,000 miles on it and ran like a dream. Moon roof, CD player, new rims. It was sweet.

I sat back in the office and grinned for 12 minutes while I listened to the manager chew that salesman's ass.

I though it would cost around 1000$ to paint the car, turns out I was off by 1000$. The previous owner got it painted about a year ago, who the hell paints a trans am white anyway?!

Maaco does paintjobs for about $500, if you don't have any rust or dents...I don't know if you have a Maaco in your area, but it wouldn't hurt to find out...If you're serious about painting it

Welcome to the F-Body club LM, the brother and i have a 1979 Trans Am and a 1997 Camaro z28 respectively.....Nice to see another one joining our ranks....

Lets get some picks of it....and how does the motor run? 350 or 305? Im guessing its a 305 if i know my specs of 3rd Gen's correctly....

If you dont mind saying (or saying AGAIN if i didnt read it) how much did you pay? and are you gonna do any mods to it to make it faster?

I got some good suggestions for starters if your interested....as me and the brother have been there, and learned from our mistakes, certainly....

Seems like everyone like the muscle cars. My first one was a 80' Cadillac Coupe DeVille. This was a awsome car when it wanted to run. Really pissed me off when it didn't though. But one day this car will ride again. I'm driving a truck right now. Big F-250. The Caddy still runs just the truck runs better. But I'll save up some money then fix the Cadillac.
