View Full Version : Imaginary People?

When I talk about having conversations with all of you to other people, some of them give me a strange look as if I'm talking to imaginary people. They don't seem to realize that it is sort of the same as talking to someone on the phone who lives far away, or having a pen pal. Some people act like I'm corresponding with Charles Manson LOL! My mom is one of these people!
My husband feels like he knows you guys already, and is used to it.
I think I know some of you better than I do a couple of staff members, after talking to someone enough you begin to get a real sense of their personality!
People are strange...............

I think a lot of people [ especially in my age group ,40ish ] haven't accepted computers as a way of communication. Quite a few of my friends don't have computers or if they do what they actually have is a $2000.00 deck of cards for solitaire. I personally think they are great. I can talk to people from the UK to Australia in a couple of keystrokes.

Its a generation thing. I finally got my folks to start using a computer on a regular basis (and now their PC is better than mind...DAMMIT)....and my grandparents have one (though its only used sparingly)...
I mean myself, I have been using the computer since before there even WAS an "internet"...chatting with people a bit more locally through was was called a Bulletion Board System (BBS). The precursor to the internet....
So..yeah....er..I AGREE? (circle gets the square!)

whats weird is the fact that these people like to 'live in the past'. I mean wtf, we have this technology that enables us to communicate and express our views with other people, and they choose not to use it.
who says we have to be face to face or use a telephone all the time, when there's so many other forms of communication these days.
What makes ya think were not just a figment of your imagination.
Maybe you have a Beautiful Mind.

I'm being reminded of Red Dragon right now...

i say "i takl with some people on the forum"
then i breifly explain the freddy fan thing, cuz thats how i joined. and i say 'and actually some of the people r pretty cool so i stay'
then they say 'oh cool' then i say 'ya, i know' then awkward silence.
anyway, times r changing and this is just a new, easy way to get closer to other people from other places. a good way to keep us tolerant of each other

Well...I've been here a long time...Seems more like a place for me to be, rather than a page on a computer for me to type on...Must be because I love all of you guys, and I seem to spend a bit more time here, than I do anywhere else:) Plus...My family is here with me, and there are some of you that I simply couldn't live without...You know who you are;)

The best part about a forum like this, is that you actually know there are like-minded people out there. For years ive been thinking "am i the only person who gives a rats ass about this stuff?". All of my friends think that i am mental, but love me anyway, but I cant hold a conversation about Texas Chainsaw vS Dawn of the dead, because they just look at me as if ive gone barmy!!!

I'll take the chianti, pass on the meat..........I'll sample the eyeballs, but I'm really NOT into the ladies.........so sorry my dear. ;) :D
I feel the same as you Bloodrayne! I know I haven't been here as long as a lot of other people, but I would really miss talking to you, if I left here, as well as so many good friends I have made! Don't expect to be on the same level though as some......of course. :)
Just got more razzing from my mom just now too because my brother told her how many posts I have! Hello..........I have been over 18 for a real long time now, and my husband doesn't mind!
There really is no way to explain this all to a 70yr old! LOL!

No wonder Nine9 is worried about what her brother thinks of her being on the forum. I know Nine9's brother, and he is a VERY scary guy. He shot her in the arm once with a gun. She's lucky to have made it into her 30s.

I know how you feel, as I get the same strange look from some people here... But what can I say... I just see people I talk to ol as friends... And in fact, I place some of them among my best friends, and am also sure I know some of them better than I know some people I met "live", you know...
But you know... You HAVE to be imaginary, nine, no one that really exists could be as nice as you... LoL... Thanks once more for being you, my friend! :0)

I still haven't gotten my sister back for booting me in the ass all those years ago. She was watching TV, and I wanted to play Atari. So, naturally, I hooked up the Atari in the middle of her show. While I was bent over, hooking up the Atari, she delivered me a powerful kick to the ass that knocked me behind the TV. She locked herself in her room for the rest of the day.

This forum shattered my assumptions that everyone online (but me, of course) was an overwieght nerd in need of freinds. Mind you, I had been on several forums before, and I make very good freinds with overweight nerds with no freinds, but it is nice to see the plethora of people here.
There is a very strange "family" feeling in here. I like it. I wish my girl were more into it, but she isnt very fond of computers, so i dont force it on her.

You are so right Vod...tried to get my hub on here but he likes to comment from afar.........with the exception of when SFF comes on. LOL!
Hey, I am now famous for being married to a paper clip because My computer will not open the pic you fixed for me!LOL! When I right click on it. It will not send it anywhere except as a paper clip. Someone told me my program must be incompatable with yours. Don't worry though. I am going to just get some on disc!
The whole damn thing is really embarassing :( :p
