Why would Aliens need Earthlings to raise their children ?

Good question. Better question would be, how can that race still exist?

Give us an overview of the Vivarium topic.
It's a movie where a young couple go to see a house for sale in a new housing development. They see the house and the sales agent disappears and they can't leave the housing development. They go around and around in their car and always end up back at the same house. Shortly afterwards a baby is left in front of their house with a message "raise the child and then you can leave". That's the baby that the Aliens left. A box of food is also left in front of their house every day but they never see who leaves it there.

Oh that one. I didn't recognize the title. I should've just googled it. I haven't seen it yet. Maybe humans raise their children well in comparison to alien civs. ::cool::

Yes, that's why I didn't tell the ending in case you, or someone else, might want to see the movie

I watched it with my mom and I saw it like a huge critic.
The kid is seem like an alien in the eyes of society, they're uncontrollable and when the kid is finally raised, the parent's job is over, their life has no meaning anymore because they already gave what the society wanted: another nobody with no personality that will substitute a previous nobody with no personality.

The question still remains though, where did this "kid" come from ?

That's a great question but unfortunately I don't have the answer.

Has anyone interviewed the director on the meaning behind this movie and the question on the origin of the child?

https://collider.com/vivarium-explained-lorcan-finnegan/ no explanation on the origin of the kid and why they need humans to raise it. The interview just proves people who direct movies like this have their own weird reasons and trying to make it sane for us to understand is fruitless.
