The Coronavirus.

What are your thoughts?
Are you getting nervous or is the whole thing blown out of proportion by the media?

For the first time in my life I’ve seen people walking around wearing masks here in Denmark. And I’m talking danish people, not the usual asian tourists.

I’m not panicing myself, because I don’t believe there’s a whole lot I can do about it. But the more people with masks I see the more worried I’ll get. So far I’ve only seen a few tho. But it’s still surreal.

I live in Ontario, Canada and there are about 10 confirmed cases here. Im not worried about it. If masks were issued and we were told to wear them, i would. From what i understand most people will have a mild case if they get it. Its the elderly with underlying conditions that could die from it. They should have a vaccine within a year.

That’s a long time to wait for the elderly. Hopefully summertime will help.

I was going to start a topic about the virus. It's like something out of a Cronenberg movie. And it reminds me of Ghosts of Mars.

dmASD5tRwV4

Also Doctor Block's self preservation line from Planet Terror comes to mind.

I do think we should be concerned. After all there was that doctor in China that knew it was coming and he still died. I believe he was in his thirties.

I've seen viruses in animals as well. Some of those are very dangerous. If you get it in your house you have to bleach down every surface. The virus can live for months if not years. It can kill animals quickly at times in a few days.

Right now in the United States we aren't being protective enough. Already stories are coming out about people not using enough protection. That weeks have gone by with people out there in public touching stuff, breathing on stuff, and passing it around.

I'm a little closer to ground zero...so I dunno if I've got a different take here, but...Seriously, China needs to stop shitting the bed with this kind of thing.
I mean just look at the last few pandemics...it wouldn't be a potential pandemic without China starting the fucking party, would it?

The mainlanders that visit/live over here in Australia don't integrate past about 20% of their population...
They don't respect public spaces.
Their kids piss in public.
They chain smoke everywhere, and spit on the ground constantly.
They're always the ones that send their kids to school coughing and bloody spluttering everywhere - something that my kid is sick from right now.
Their restaurants are always the first to get done for hygiene and food poisoning issues.
They are always the ones bringing in unsafe/contraband food items when they fly in...and they "no Engrish" their way into disregarding even the most simple of directives that are in place to yknow, keep everyone safe and healthy.
The very fact that some parts of their country have actual LAWS to stop them from over-breeding like retards because even their HUGE land-mass is hopelessly overpopulated to unsustainable points, speaks volumes.
It's very difficult to not see them as self absorbed, dirty, and disrespectful people.

There's been cases spread...they all originated in China. There continues to be new cases in/around airports even now...this is people being shitty human beings and just "I don't give a fuck"-ing the whole situation.

Their govt has been deliberately misleading with facts and figures as well, and there's no firm numbers on contraction vs deaths coming from them at all...it would appear that they've even tried to silence people from getting the information out there.

Yet a simple 2-3 week travel shut down, and a quarantine period for stock coming in from China just won't get done...because they throw money at it and basically own our weak-ass fucking sellout govt.

There's asian students being fucking fought for to get out of quarantine and head back to Australia...and then when they come back, now we have it here...this is a surprise to anyone?

Korea had the right idea when they shot down someone attempting escape after they'd been diagnosed.

I mean honestly...right now I'm just considering them as a bunch of fucking plague rats, and I honestly hope this does some well overdue population control.

Its not everyones fault...I understand a large part of the population is simply under the control of their own govt, in their own country, and only have access to the information and directives that are provided by what increasingly seems like a shady fuck of a system over there...but there is no way, that this should have become an international thing.
Massive failure that it did.

I'm not going to buy a mask...because if I get it, I get it...and my immunity is pretty good...I'm not really in the group that's effected much by death, neither is my wife of child...but I guarantee if I get it, I will be taking a leisurely stroll through Chinatown that day...touching and coughing on everything I can.

In closing, fuck them and their shady ass disrespectful selfish behaviour.
The innocent among them, I am not commenting on.
I'm talking about the assholes that brought it here and there, and continue to...because they put themselves above all others, and ignoring rules and regulations is just something they do all the fucking time.

I honestly believe SO many countries would have fucked this thing up before it got to half the problem it is now...not that other countries are comparatively known for starting pandemics. ::roll eyes::

I guess I'm racist now.

What do you mean they don't integrate past about 20% of their population?

Some of that post is hilarious though. It reminds me when I listened to the guy that turned around Singapore. He talked about how harsh the laws had to be because people were peeing in elevators. He said something like they installed cameras and then they would pee from outside the elevator. That's how wicked he said they were.

Strange too that recently I was driving past a gas station and I guess either the bathroom was out of order or they didn't have one. So broad daylight the guy was peeing next to a bush while I was waiting on a stop light.

Also it shouldn't be funny. But I did get a laugh that this coronavirus came from one of those meat markets. I assume it's like you see in the movies with animals everywhere and people chopping stuff. I get shivers when I see those as I think they are just asking for some kind of contamination. But Chef Ramsey has caught many restaurants asking for contamination. This is a good one.

E7i-XSBaAUY

Some of that is racial stereotyping though. But there was a news story a while back about cats being served as chicken or another meat in Chinatown. I didn't know why someone would do that. But then I read on wiki that many countries are ok with eating cats, dogs, and other domestic animals.

Reminds me of "Contagion"

It harsh and a bit racist. But I'm surprised with Trump wanting to stop Mexicans and Muslims from entering the country. He didn't stop people coming from these countries close to the virus.

It's probably too late now. It was just reported that perhaps 150 million people in the United States might get the virus. If true and gatherings of people around 200 are being shut down, what about stores and warehouses? How about public transportation? This is about to be something out of a horror movie.

We are in trouble. Incompetence is running the United States. We need to be shut down so whoever has the virus doesn't spread it. And we can find those who have it. It's something like 1 person can spread it to 4 people.

Yes, people in Walmart raided the toilet paper. I don't see any credible reason toilet paper production or access will go down... except for some people deciding to hoard it... which causes the lack.

This stuff is common sense. You really don't need any sort of high educational level to know if you want to stop a virus from passing through the air and on surfaces you shut down everything and treat the people you know have it. If not all you are doing is risking spreading the virus.

I don't think any society on Earth has ever tested every single person for a virus. It's impossible. And even if you can, just because you test and a person comes back negative doesn't mean when they leave they won't come into contact with someone who has the virus.

Shut down is how China slowed and seemingly stopped the virus for now. Italy is shut down. The United States just went from groups of 250 down to groups of 10. We are playing around.

$1000 is a start but it will barely help the people who don't have large savings. Not to really get into politics but it's funny how fast Republicans when they get into power want to give money back to people who are very well off. I'm talking people who have money for multiple generations. And even give them tax cuts when they aren't even needed. Then when we really need that surplus money and lost income, we have to plunge ourselves deeper into debt as a country.

It's happened twice if not three times now that I've seen. I drove past so many small restaurants and food places today that were closed if not completely empty. People who work at places like that need more than $1000 to cover rent and expenses if people are talking July or August for things to get back to some kind of normal everyday life. It's just funny how people are talking about socialism being bad and here we are. Even though we do have something called Social Security but I guess that flies over the head of some.

Also the longer we wait to fully shut down, the longer it will take to recover.

Coronavirus will be a boon for the horror industry. Expect many sequels to this one.

https://filmschoolrejects.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/corona-zombies.jpg

Whenever mass hysteria breaks out in any form, you can always rely on low budget horror filmmakers to milk the panic for all it’s worth. The coronavirus is now a bona fide pandemic that’s changing life as we know it for the worse, but that hasn’t stopped Full Moon Features from taking advantage of the situation.

According to Horror Society, Corona Zombies is currently in the post-production phase, proving that the studio wasted no time in cashing in on COVID-19 while the pandemonium is at its peak. The story revolves around a pandemic that turns infected people into bloodthirsty lunatics, and subscribers to Full Moon’s streaming service will be able to watch the movie on April 10th.

There’s an argument to be made that the mere existence of this movie is offensive and insensitive. Of course, the history of horror and exploitation movies is littered with films that courted outrage from the get-go. or have shamelessly exploited social anxieties and atrocities. For example, the Manson Family murders inspired a whole wave of movies that portrayed hippies as demented cultists back in the 1970s, while the H1N1 virus spawned countless disease-themed horror movies only a few years ago. Let’s not even get started on movies based on the crimes of real-life serial killers…

There will be people who find the release of Corona Zombies to be in poor taste, and that’s completely understandable. Others will probably find Full Moon’s shamelessness to be quite amusing. But the point is that Corona Zombies is likely to be the first of hundreds of movies of this ilk that come along in the next few months or years, depending on how long it takes for normal life to resume for people. And most of these movies will feature zombies because viruses and the undead in pop culture are synonymous with each other.

We could have been prepared long before this moment. Too bad we had someone say this will all blow over and a miracle will happen. Now many are in a hurry to get as much as possible.

If someone said start to plan slowly. Perhaps in January. Maybe if we caught the people coming from China before they entered the country. We wouldn't have this crazy rush to get everything. Or a virus that we have to wait at least two weeks to see who has it and who doesn't.

But I'm ok with watching horror movies and TV shows. I'm behind as it is on stuff.

People still aren't taking it seriously. I made an early trip to get some supplies. I was in one aisle keeping my distance from someone getting items and another person came up almost behind me. Instead of waiting they said excuse me even though there was a person ahead. We are talking a small aisle. I just went forward out of the whole mess.

The store I went to was all out of disinfectant supplies too.

Second place I went to people were waiting in front of the store just like people would normally at a Black Friday sale. I stood off the side at about half the distance of the length of the store watching them. I heard one of the people cough. But no one seemed to panic. Still asking for it.

People working the stores seemed scared. Some just lying to get away. Some talking and walking. I had to ask a few people before getting to the truth that supplies were out of stock for a few days. Website stocks were incorrect.

For Chinese people it must be terrible having someone say the China virus as some will automatically think if they see a Chinese person that person is at fault even if they have never been to China. Or not a carrier of the virus.

It's really sad that we don't have the leadership to completely shut down now. The longer we wait more people will get infected. You don't have an economy at all without people.

Number of new confirmed cases in Ohio is still going up: 25th/140, 26th/157, 27th/276, (28th skipped) 29th/516 (est 28th/258, 29th/258). A dip over the weekend, but the number of tests is still very low 20.6k (0.18% of 11.7 million population). About 1/18 tests are now negative, up from 1/5 six days ago, meaning we just got a boat load of new tests. Point is, we'll need to see a drop in new cases per day before state closure policy will change.

Number of hospitalized is also an important number. OH has 403 with 29 deaths. Number hospitalized quadrupled in 6 days; doubled in the last 3 days. Still 403 is by no means a stress on beds, but I don't know how OH is doing on ventilators.

The numbers will keep going up, tests or no test without a complete shut down. They are talking about people in jails getting the virus. Obviously people in jail aren't going to China. So either a few recent arrests allowed the virus to get into the jail system. Or people who worked at the jail contaminated it by going about business as usual.

Plus we have a so called US President who says 100,000 Americans dead is basically a good job. Republicans would have impeached Obama for something like that. It's called failure to protect American citizens.

This is real simple. Start April 1st.

1. Shut down everything except essentials.

2. No one goes anywhere except for food, medicine, hospital, or money.

3. Have police at the essential areas to maintain distance if necessary. I think they did this in Italy. It still took a while for their numbers to slow because the virus lives for a while. And you'll need 2 to 3 weeks for symptoms to show in people.

Tests are fine. But positive tests will still get you quarantine. And I think the numbers in the United States are such that tracing contacts almost doesn't matter anymore. At least not until we get the numbers under control again. Or in smaller population areas. New York for example is way out of control. Perhaps if someone gets the virus in a small town you can figure that out pretty easily.

The US now has twice the infections that China had, and 1/5 of the world's infections; and NY/NJ is half of all US cases. Is that the in-your-face effect? Per capita, that's extremely worse than China, and I don't know how much 'covid19' has mutated; but then China has many years of experience squashing the curve (they've dealt with SARS). Per capita, there are six European countries, plus Iran, that have done worse than the US. The US is considered a more extra-personal-space country than most of the world, so that helps.

Trump has 'allowed' the states to enact their own procedures, while facilitating the automatic fed/world agency' advice, which, although this is unprecedented, is not only the norm, but probably wise. NY may need to do things differently than Montana. Trump is, evidently pushing companies to produce virus related supplies. I don't know what you wanted Trump to do... but besides a quicker and more seriously delivered speech, like from Obama, I don't think the Oval Office' response would have been markedly different, in my opinion.

What's going on in your state?

Delaware implemented the stay-at-home order about a week or so ago. Essential personnel are allowed to go to work. That includes me. I've been good. I go from home to work, and back again. I only go out if I need something from the grocery store, or need to get my meds refilled.

The Federal Government has to take control and it has to be uniform policies across all states. It doesn't work if everyone is doing it differently and at different times. Or traveling between states and unknowingly brings the virus with them. We are at best weeks if not months behind, that's why the numbers are off the wall.

When we saw doctors in China with the full gear back in I believe January was when we should have been getting ready. It's obvious now that the virus lives on surfaces and in the air for long enough to infect many people.

The White House is expected to announce a new policy, based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that would urge Americans to wear cloth masks in an effort to prevent coronavirus spread.

I work in a hospital. It's been a really difficult time. I just started a couple of weeks ago & feel totally lost sometimes. They just gave me my own N-95 mask about a week ago because they were so scarce. I'm not allowed to take it out of the hospital. I have to wear a face mask at all times when I'm in the hospital. I have basically been going to work and straight home, nothing else. I watched a co-worker have a breakdown when they tried to send her into one of the patient rooms the other night. I could understand because her husband already has COPD. They sent her home. I decided to dedicate my off time to watching horror movies again, in an attempt to get my mind off things. If you've seen anything especially good lately, feel free to send it my way. I missed some of you. ::embarrassment::

The thing I'm curious about is why everyone talks about the N95 so much when there are 99 and 100 versions. Also different versions that will block other materials. Plus the actual gas mask. All I hear is N95 everywhere.

Also, in Adventures in Getting Supplies Part 2:

I got to the store early to get some supplies. I thought I was being smart. They were lined up at a few minutes before 7AM! The store was still out of some supplies. I saw some people wearing masks. Some not. Store workers talking about how the company wasn't their life.

Once I left there wasn't a line at all. It was just like driving to work. Go too early and rush hour. Leave a bit later and smooth driving.

Just had a bad dream about Covid mutating and becoming a zombie virus.

I had one a few days ago. I don't think I posted about it because I might use the idea one day. The virus was actually attempting to get in my house!

It's so sad how this could have been prevented. We are now getting more information about how this was handled early on. Plus we are seeing how sick the Republicans and so called Supreme Court are by how they handled voting in I believe Wisconsin.

Edit: oh yeah we started stocking toilet paper and paper towels on the empty shelves, then it was like something out of dawn if the dead. One person peered down the aisle and then another, then another, then every customer in the store came down each side like a wave of horror. So much for social distancing. Pffft

Best PSA I've seen yet!

Too bad few really took this seriously.

I hear a lot of people comparing this virus to other things that kill people. But few talk about how contagious this virus is. Honestly, no one in their right mind should want to risk getting this virus. I don't want a tube stuck down my throat.

I would be scared if I lived in a closed area like an apartment with multiple people coming in and out. Along with possible strangers. But some feel that we have done enough in the United States. I'm waiting for Florida to blow up in cases since they are going to the beach again.

People say the United States isn't China. But China understood it. Even if they are lying about their death numbers. Look at the graphs and United States is off the charts compared to China.

And China is now using technology and testing in a way that we are seemingly unwilling and not setup to do. Even though I like my privacy and don't like the idea of needing to use tracking software to help contain something that should not have reached the United States at this level at all.

Are you tracking your outdoor activities so you know if you are in the virus' time table? Every time I leave, I note the date and places I went. So I know myself where I possibly encountered the virus.

I remove all items from boxes into another box before it gets in the house. Also, I now put juices in containers. Soap wash cans. Frozen pizza wrapped separately in slices in foil. Frozen fish, vegetables, fruits in separate plastic bags. I'm not playing around anymore.

Outside clothes don't make it in either. In a bag and straight to the wash.

I wear gloves. But I only touch what I'm getting at the store. I wipe down the cart handle too. Then use one glove hand to push the cart. Other glove hand to take items. Gloves to garbage before driving away. But I always carried cotton and other disposable gloves before for rare books and comics I might come across.

Yeah this is a guy who it is almost 100% confirmed to have a doctor fake a diagnosis to get him out of a war. Then had another doctor sign a health diagnosis that the doctor didn't even write. And even had the White House doctor give a health check report that was off the wall. So it's not beyond him to lie about getting the virus. When supposedly people are checked everyday at the White House before entering or coming into contact with him.

The people around him are liars too so you can't believe them either. Remember the White House Press Secretary just making up the FBI story. There are many other examples too.

Well guys and girls, we are going to need more than a mask. We need everyone to wear them and perhaps shut down again. Cases are rising quickly. Deaths rise following the case rise. Some cities are doing early closing of stores. But still that's not enough.

The shutdown should have been in October when it was still fairly warm. We could have received stimulus and watched scary movies through the month. And that four week period, if handled right would have slowed the cases and virus. But we didn't and here we are headed to 200,000 cases if not more per day.
