Yes, the original is good, and I can’t wait for this remake. I saw the trailer when I went to see Halloween, and it made me genuinely excited.
An underrated and overlooked King book, an underrated and nasty little horror flick, and hell, the sequel is also entertaining, but for totally different reasons ( “ No brain, no pain. Think about it! “ ::big grin:: )

The art of this film looked great, along with the commentary. Those kids looked creepy, with the masks on. I loved the feel I got from the trailer! I'm excited for this.

Man, this movie was a disappointment.
Aside from John Lithgow being fantastic as always, this was a poorly executed film. I have to assume something happened in the editing room, too many cooks in the kitchen maybe.
There are hints of a competent movie here, great lighting, some awesome cinematography here and there, but man, the pacing is all over the place. Too fast in all the wrong places, too slow in all the wrong places, zero tension. The novel was barely even adapted. It honestly feels like 2% of the book.
Probably the biggest letdown (in horror) for me in years. I can't believe they made an inferior film 30 years after the original one. The original is still brilliant and untouchable, in my opinion.

The fact that many key elements to the original story were drastically changed made it very cliche and boring, with no real twists or unexpected ideas that made King's story feel so close and haunting.
If I were to rate the film, I'll give it a 5/10.

Did anyone see the first film the directors did together, Starry Eyes? Wondering how that compares. I've never seen either, but was curious about them somewhat because one of the directors, Dennis Widmeyer, was the founder of the Chuck Palaniuk fan website ChuckPalahniuk.net that I used to frequent back in the day.
