So i've noticed some people on here mentioning that we don't talk about horror enough for a horror forum. One thing i remember from when i joined here was there were a lot of tournaments, special events like HDC Idol and Battle Royale, that got people involved in the site.
There were also discussions for the purpose of creating lists such as the HDC Top 100 and 1896 - 2012: The Official HDC Selection from 100+ Years of Horror Cinema. Those were always my favorite to participate in.
I thought i might try to create one of these discussions. Now i'm not V, so i doubt i'll be able to put it together as well as he did but i'll give it a try as long as people on here are willing to contribute.
I was thinking of compiling the best Vampire Horror movies to start and if it goes well then i would move onto another type of horror movie whether it be the type of monster involved or the subgenre such as Home Invasion, Found Footage, etc. which admittedly would be much smaller and easier to do.
What does everyone think? I don't want to start putting the work into getting this into the format for us all to discuss it and figure it out in an intelligent way if people aren't interested. Also i'd like to hear feedback and what the list would be. We don't have to do vampires and one of the smaller subgenres might be easier to start with to see if i'm actually capable of doing this sort of thing.
Let me know, i'm eager to breathe some life back into this place.

I say Bravo! I've been one ( maybe the only one ) of the people whining about a shortage of Horror action here.
Yeah, count me in from start to finish. I think it's a splendid idea.

Cool hopefully other people will become interested as well. There were a ton of projects here that got started and died from lack of interest. I'd hate to start this and put the work in only for it to go that way

I'll get to work on mine tonight.
Setting a limit on titles submitted? Ten to a forum member? Just spitballing and my no means dictating.

Well i was going to compile a list of every vampire movie and do it tournament style but instead of voting on which one everyone thinks is better, people would debate and i would choose a winner based on those discussions for each round

Whoa! Heavy undertaking, man!
Alright, this is sounding better all the time. I'll keep an eye peeled for the next phase.

I like this idea. Are you sure you have time for this? I remember V saying when he did tournaments, it took up a lot of time.

Vampires, eh? Couldn't find something more mainstream?
I'm kidding! although as a werewolf fan vamps are obviously not my favorites ::big grin::
I do know a few good flicks, so if it's possible to participate without having seen a majority, then I'm game!

The preparation will probably take some time for me to get everything ready so i hope everyone will be patient with me. Once it gets going though, i don't think it will be that difficult to keep at it.

For some reason Vampires was the first thing i thought of even though im not a big fan of Vampire horror movies. If all goes well my plan was to do a werewolf one next.
If you haven't seen one of the movies, you can either not comment or go off the things other people say and throw in your support. That will have merit with me when choosing the winner of the debate.

Hey Villain, what do you say we move ahead with the best vampire film?
The method of providing everyone a list (from IMDB) per decade (or 2 or 3 decades each, to shorten process), followed by discussion, nominations, and then finally votes, seemed to work quite well.
Of course in this case, we want to get to the one best. So for this step, after we all have become familiar with what vampire films actually exist (through the decade process), everyone can nominate their top 5, from which you'd make a seeded bracket competition to crown one vampire film.
In that last step, you'd probably want to decide on only including 8, or 16, for brackets, taking only the 8 with most votes (rather than including all films submitted, which might be 33).
Or to shorten the process, you could skip the decade(s) step, but then I don't see how we'd get any discussion/debate going -- plus, I'd rather discover or re-discover vampire films I would normally miss by only doing to the last bracket event.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's health. We can keep her in our prayers. I'm sure a lot of us have had to take care of sick family members for both short and long periods of time. How's things going so far?

Not sure if i've mentioned it on here but she has Lupus and a really bad immune system. She's had a stroke and multiple seizures. Just had to take her to urgent care the other day due to multiple infections. Shes a really strong person though. I don't know how she gets through it.

Sorry the news hasn't gotten better, man. She must be pretty courageous to fight through all the shit. Having a devoted husband won't hurt her any either.
Proud of you!
