I got what he said.
They ahev tried to create new icons (Jeepeers creepers for one), btu the fans arent biting the way they did back in the 70s and 80s. Dont worry, something will strike a cord soon, and we'll have a new one.

there's all ways a lull in the horror genure.
a few good films get released, then all the other copycat producers milk the style of film to death, when that runs out there's a lull untill the new fresh interesting stuff apears again..... then it starts over again with all the copycat stuff again.
jeeezz I say 'again' too much ;)

i totally agree with what Mark Myers said i think we could use a new slasher in films. producers and such people have ruined our view of real horror villians by overusing them in countless( not to mention pointless) sequals. i think after we find this new villian they should just let to rein of him (or her) just play out over time not play it out with obsessive amounts of sequals.

I think what tired me out with the slasher flicks was the unkillable baddy. I mean, you KNOW he's going to come back. One of the fun things about writing horror stories is coming up with ways to get rid of the killer or supernatural entity once and for all. I am gald, however, that zombies are coming back. I've always thought of them to be the most terrifying creatures in horror.

A short word from me: Zombies freak me the fuck out.
Slashers, i think, have run their course. We had Jason Freddy and Michael. They rtied adding to it with Urban Legends (whoever the fuck that was, i never bothered to watch them), Ghost face, and the Fisherman (I know what you did last summer, ), but they made the Freinds and Party of five versions of slasher flicks, and possibly buried the genre..
Oops, forgot leatherface.
Anyway, the dead period may be a good thing. Maybe some nobody with a camera and some balls will get us a new slasher, one with some staying power.

Mr Romero needs to make a new Dead movie soon. I would sleep in the movie theatres just to see it. Theres not enough original horror movies these days. All of them seem to be trying to copy one another....

Well i have a idea for a movie. its about these 5 people go into the woods to stay at this old cabin. and while they are there the two men read from a book and it releases these demons.. anywho one ofthe women go out into the forest and gets raped by a tree. and then after a while she turns into a demon and bites one of them and then they turn into a demon and so on and so on. ihaven't quiet finished it yet.

Never heard of this one before......i think you should call it "Demonic Unalive" and make a sequel where the main characters hand gets possesed and he kills it, and attaches a chainsaw to the stub of his hand........

i really didnt like the childs play movies they were just too childish. i mean how desperate are we for a new killer that we have to turn to bringing to life dolls to kill people. its just to much of an attempt to keep the slasher movies alive. and i think that more zombie movies would be a good thing but we still need to keep the slasher movies alive but not too ridiculus.

Never cared for chucky, and Brad Douriff is horribly overrated.
Has anyone else noticed that slasher have (for themost part) stepped away from the supernatural?
All of the newer ones (at least from the past 10 years), are just guys with knives or hooks or whatever.....
interesting...

I'm actually in the process of writing a slasher film.
The killer (haven't figured out a good name for him/her/it) yet
stalks the innocent, by the innocent i mean children. I've thought of writing it as more of a serial killer movie, but with slasher elements, you know more gore the merrier.
I need a good title for it as well.

I could never give up on horror movies, as long as they stay fresh ... and SCARY! Most of the horror flicks that come out don't try to be scary, just bloody. That gets old.
