I was looking forward to it like, i'm guessing, most of us. I did enjoy it, but it was not as good as I expected. It relied too much on intentional buffoonery of Ash. Much more like Army of Darkness than Evil Dead I and II which is why I was disappointed. There wasn't any real emotional turmoil, just Ash as hard headed, full of himself kind of guy. Its worth a watch, but keep expectations low.

I made it into 20 minutes of the first episode, nah, it's not for me. I thought it was ridiculous; too much comedy element.

Not a huge Evil Dead fan anyway.

Sooooo somebody mentioned this Ash V. Evil Dead thing to me (he had never heard of the originals, to my consternation) and the trailer I saw actually looked...pretty cool. I mean the FX look real classy old-style (and Bruce Campbell looks pretty good for his age ;) ahem, anyway) But has anybody seen it? And if it's good, where can I watch it? I really have little patience with new horror (just preference) and the Evil Dead thing is about my all-time favorite, so I might be approaching this with too much caution (I'm a sentimentalist). But it actually looks kind of cool. Anyone have anything to say about it?

i took the star channel free trial, thru amazon.com, just to watch Ash V. Evil Dead. I had high hopes, as i loved Evil Dead 2.

I watched like 3 episodes. Then jumped ahead a few eps for a few minutes...

I was decidedly disappointed.

I don't the like writing, especially the characterization of Ash. Has little heart. They turned Ash into a Kenny Powers/Eastbound & Down ripoff (a character I could do without). Basically, the noble, good, clever Ash is gone and replaced by an 18 yr old stupid, nihilistic, hedonist... and we're meant to enjoy that, and then watch him reluctantly mature a little bit each episode. Sorry, that train left the station decades ago. Not my cup of tea.

I could tolerate it more as I watch tv while I eat so I eventually run out of stuff, but yes. You're description is great.

i should say there are Evil Dead things i liked about it, and those things seemed to be increasing -- and it seemed to be turning into Supernatural episodes -- but it wasn't enough to weight-out what I disdained.

Okay I watched a 4 minute sneak peek of the first episode. They didn't waste time filming an x rated scene. I was like "Okay, it looks alright so far" then when that scene popped up I was like "WHOA! WTF!?".

I liked it. I'm sure there is a topic either here or on the horrordvds forum where I posted about it. I was a new watcher to the Evil Dead series and compared the new show to what came before.
