Texas sniper slaughter
Snipers shot and killed five police officers “ambush-style” during a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas Thursday night, according to Dallas police. At least six other police officers and one civilian were also injured in the deadliest day for police in the U.S. since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown said early Friday three suspected snipers were in custody and police were still in negotiations with another suspect, who was being uncooperative and at times exchanging gunfire with officers in a parking garage.
Local media reported that the suspect involved in the standoff later died.
“He told negotiators that the end is coming, and he is going to hurt and kill more of us,” Brown said at a press conference earlier, noting the man had also claimed there were bombs around the structure. “We are being very careful in our tactics so that we don’t injure any of our officers in harm’s way.”
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings added that downtown Dallas would still be considered “an active crime scene” going into Friday, and urged people to check the city’s news updates on which areas to avoid. The FAA also temporarily instituted a temporary flight restriction over the area.

Who needs horror movies these days? All you have to do is turn on the news.

This is home for me. Dallas is a great place with one of the most diverse and well regulated police forces in the country.
Also, saying this guy was a Sniper is a joke, his military experience was limited to being a carpenter. The most training this jackass had was at basic. Don't give him the credit of calling him a Sniper. He was a coward, he shot most of the officers in the back. I can only say that I wish they would have caught him alive and really showed him what "police brutality" is.

I think we're going to see a lot more robots in hazardous situations like this. It started with the bomb squad, now heavily armed suspects. Police are most likely to be injured in domestic violence calls, so a robot with a taser and tear gas would definitely be an option.

Wow, Jake, glad you are OK. Did you hear the fire from your dwelling-place?

I wonder if in your lifetime we will see a T-800 in the streets and say no big deal?

Not in my lifetime, I'm already 50. Some other people here, maybe. The next big thing will be small armed drones. Something about the size of a kitchen table, armed with a 50 caliber rifle. It lands, nails somebody about 1000 yards away, then flies off.

I don't know, something would have to be pretty heavy to withstand the kick of a 50 cal, especially if it isn't grounded. A drone would be better suited for small armor piercing rounds. Maybe even really small, something that could be easily flown through a office building. I could even see Tranq darts on a drone, take em peacefully so they don't rouse up the citizens who are now looking for any reason to be angry.

Nah Dallas/Fort Worth is huge, I live right in the middle of the two but still about an hour away from the shooting. All was quiet in my little white bred suburb.

Tranquilizer darts sound cool on paper, but the reality is that if you're old, obese, pregnant, or on drugs, they will kill you. The dosage also has to change based on the weight of the target. That's why they only get used on animals. A taser on a drone would be cool, if it didn't fry the electronics on the drone when it fired. "Get off my lawn!!" ZZZZZAAAAPPPP

but i thought it was weird how at first they were saying there were multiple snipers and then they finally said that only one man was involved.

In the frenzy it was hard to tell really what was going on. They haven't released a ton of information yet, but they arrested 3 people and blew one up. The one they blew up was writing messages all over the place in his own blood but they haven't said anything about that yet. They are pretty sure the others arrested where involved but didn't actually shoot. You have to remember there where thousands of people downtown and when the shooting started everyone ran. They assumed there had to be more shooters involved because of how few civilians where hit, when in all actuality the shooter just cowardly took shots at cops from behind and from close range. There is a cell of people out there who think that the shooting was perpetrated by the police in order to make the BLM movement look violent. Which is completely absurd.

Quick reactions can be inaccurate. Especially from people not used to the sound of gunfire. All kinds of theories immediately came out. Some were saying it was a military trained white guy from the one video where the guy is shooting behind the columns. Attempting to setup the black lives matter group. Turns out it was a military trained black guy. Same with the other recent shooting in Louisiana.
I found an interview from a while ago with a cop that worked in I think Maryland. Where the one guy died in police custody with a broken back or something crazy. It's long but people should watch it. The cop is being interviewed by the guy that used to host that Fear Factor show where people ate bugs and other garbage. Or people could watch Strange Days as I'm surprised we are still dealing with stuff like this.
But many times if something doesn't directly impact someone, most simply don't care. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
