What is the best and worst horror game you've played

Hello horror.com! This is my first post! What is the best and worst horror game you've played and why? I think the best game I've played is silent hill 2. They made great use of camera angles and sound effects. The story was amazing and the monsters were disturbing. I personally think the first resident evil wasn't as great and it's not because I didn't have fun playing it, it was because it completely failed to scare me. The controls were a little bit weird and annoying and the story was not as interesting to me.

I'm actually a game dev in the process of making a horror game and am interested to hear what other peoples' experiences are with the genre and maybe what you want to see in future games.

Best: Fatal Frame

Reason: The story was interesting, creepy and sinister and the atmosphere incredibly intense and scary throughout. The gameplay was alright as well.


Worst: I don't think I remember the worst game I've played, but one of them has been Capcom's Haunted Ground

Reason: I hate the concept of running away from all the danger instead of at least having the option to fight back.

The best game I've played so far is definitely Boogeyman, the actual night's are not that bad but when you have to look for a flashlight in the house, that's where the scariest parts are IMO. And of course the game get's scarier night by night ::big grin::

And the worst one is Obscuritas, too much dragging and too repetitive.
