So last night I delivered some pizzas...when my other job isn't on I do this.
Really torrential rain, but I got through it.
After I went home, I parked my car as usual outside my building.
Around an hour later we hear a big thump and some police cars.
Of course. It HAD TO be my car.
This idiot in a stolen car, evaded police and hit mine and three others.
Sped down a wet hill and steered into mine. Took their whole front off...
I learned in this car. Took care of it. Nothing ever happened under my watch. Now this.
My front drivers side got hit, and there's dents and tears in the paint, and aside from whatever MAY HAVE gone on inside, the other obvious damage is that the wheel is turned out...where the other one is straight...so somethings snapped I guess.
I mean I have comprehensive insurance and a police report to give them so all going well it will just get covered..but who knows.
Shit pisses me off, man.

The problem with these kinds of accidents is that you won't get more then the blue book value for it at most. If it's an older car you, well then I'm sorry.

Not sure what you mean by value...I mean it's not a write off, the engine is still going and all...just been picked up by the towing company to go to the insurers assessment and repair mechanics.
I just want it fixed and in the condition it was, not the value.
It's a late 2008 model so it's still relatively "new", full comprehensive insurance.
I have been told I have to pay my excess until the offenders details are given (which the police have as they are in custody) at which point it's given back to me.
Premiums won't go up, and no claim bonus/reduction will still be in play next year.
This just disappoints me though...like, I took care of the thing. Not fastidiously so, but enough so that it wasn't banged up, didnt need any repairs. Maintained as advised and only the "good" fuel used...now, it's at least temporarily, fucked.
I love this car. I am dissapoint.

Here in the U.S., if the frame is bent (which it sounds like yours may be with the wheel being turned), the insurance company will total out the car. Meaning the money you get will only be the value of the car. Which usually isn't much. We have this thing called the "Blue Book". It gives the value of cars.

Its a rip off. You're doing everything right taking care of your vehicle, minding your own business and some little shit comes along and now your stuck with dealing with this. I'd be pissed, too.

I would take the bastard to court and make him pay for everything, including the deductable since it wasnt your fault and there is proof from the police you had nothing to do with it. I would take this bitch to thunderdome and back if I had to.

I'd like to...but in all honesty the court thing is just time and money I don't have.
Not to mention with how things happen here, if they're just some little criminal asshole...they'll turn up in court, plead destitution, and try to get off saying they can only afford to pay like $5 a week forever.
If a person here is on welfare, has no assets...well, a company can *eventually* benefit from this kind of arrangement throughout their existence such as an insurer (who will likely be the ones to sue this person if it's going to happen) but it would be little to no benefit to the victim when it comes to actually getting something like this handled in a manner conducive to having an operational vehicle.
I guess I can be "happy" enough knowing that with every car they hit, they're likely to get hit with seperate charges for evading, malicious damage, wreckless driving/endangerment - two of which are indictable offences.
They locked them up on the night and they're being kept in custody until a hearing.
I'd say even without priors, they're pretty fucked.
Now, I don't know this person or what their financial status is, but as well as any potential incarceration or whatever penalty they get thrown by the magistrate, there will likely be a fine, and since the insurers will be involved there will be a demanded agreement.
...If I don't get things resolved to my satisfaction with the insurer, THEN I will step in too and I guess then we'll see what kind of money this person has.
As for the car, I think the axle has snapped or some part of it. The frame itself seems relatively unbent and solid...but who knows right?
Like I said I just hope I get my car back.

Do you know how much the car is worth? Typically an insurer will only pay up to a percentage of what the car is worth to fix it before just scraping it and calling it a loss. For instance if your car would only bring in 5k at value, but its going to cost 3k to fix it, the insurance will just scrap the car. It doesn't make financial sense for them to repair it at that point. If I where you, I would look into the value, and start contemplating what you can get for it. Just to have a back up plan if they don't fix yours.

Well, it's fixable.
Going to take 10 business days to do the repair work.
Then there's the panelbeating and paint.
Under my insurance everything has a lifetime warranty so if there's anything I don't like, I can have it redone.
The excess is payable in completion of the repairs - but if the insurer has the police report info by then (which...they really should...) then it'll get waived.
