I just heard about these today... Wayne Rodgers just barely missed the new year. Freaking sucks... I have fond memories watching MASH as my parents bought them on DVD. My sister and I were obsessed with the first few seasons and watched them over and over again... 8(

Wayne Rodgers passing brought my belated mother to mind. She couldn't stand to even look at him, and used to say "he's got a face like a smacked ass!" LOL! My mom was hilarious.
No disrespect meant to Wayne, just sharing a fond memory.

My first introduction to David Bowie, was watching "Ashes to Ashes" on MTV. I was confused and captivated.
But it wasn't until my first real stay in Los Angeles, around 1997, that someone told me to take a moment to listen to something other than Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and Hunky Dory. So I went for a dizzying car ride through the Hollywood Hills and listened to "Diamond Dogs."
All of my nostalgia, instantly turned to awe. I was hearing him sing about fiction as a mask to show his naked soul. This changed my life forever.
Every song of his was a way for me to communicate to others. It was a sedative. An arousal. A love letter I could never have written.
It has become and remains a soundtrack to a movie he painted with his voice and guitar.
He sang, "Hope, it's a cheap thing."
I don't need hope to know that he has found his way to the place that equals his untouchable, chameleon-genius beauty. The black star in space, that only HE belongs.
This crushing moment of fear and loss can only be treated the way his music has affected everyone who was fortunate enough to hear and love it.
Let's NEVER let go of what he gave us.

The car pinned Yelchin, 27, against a brick mailbox pillar and a security fence at his home in Los Angeles, Officer Jenny Hosier said. He had gotten out of the vehicle momentarily, but police did not say why he was behind it when it started rolling.
Yelchin was on his way to meet friends for a rehearsal, Hosier said. When he didn't show up, the group came to his home and found him dead.

Director if Wicker Man
http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-36693545
Film director Robin Hardy has died at the age of 86, a family friend has confirmed.
He was best known for cult British film The Wicker Man, starring Sir Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward.
The 1973 film told the story of police sergeant Howie, played by Woodward, who was sent to search for a missing girl on the fictional island of Summerisle.
Hardy, who went on to make follow-up The Wicker Tree in 2011, died on Friday, the friend said.
Last year, Hardy said he wanted to make a third Wicker Man film as a tribute to Sir Christopher.
The Wicker Man was Hardy's feature debut, and he went on to direct only two more feature-length films. The second, The Fantasist, came 13 years after his debut.
Had no idea about The Wicker Tree! And its at vudu.com.

Decades ago, I worked at a Baltimore cable channel and we would occasionally have celebs (minor and not so minor) come in to film short PSA's for various causes. Tracy Gold, who played Alan Thicke's daughter on Growing Pains, came in to shoot one and was asked about the cast of the show and what they were like. She spoke very politely about all of her co-stars, but she spoke in the most warm and glowing tones about Alan Thicke. She basically said you could not find a nicer man if you tried. That was sweet, I think.
And if you are interested, Tracy Gold was an absolute sweetheart herself.

Man, Carrie Fisher was only 60!
It's said she died of a heartattack. As she freely talked about, she was likely critically damaged by the hard-drug use. She started a long long time ago -- where actually, although she had an amazing figure in the metal bikini in Return of the Jedi (1983) the toll was already showing in her face. It looked like she had aged a decade past the rest of her cast. Luckily she came back from the brink and had many wonderful years.

Carrie Fisher dead in LA.
To quote yourself:
What the fuck is this? 2016 has been ruthless.
Mark my words, 2017 is in a dark corner rubbing it's hands together and cackling maniacally saying... They think 2016 was bad...?

Anyway I'm more of a Trek fan over Star Wars, but I'd be lying if I denied the movies hadn't influenced my interest in the SciFi genre so that I would one day be the Trek fan that I am. So today has been a very sad day.
I also found this and felt like sharing because I liked it a lot. http://attackfish.tumblr.com/post/155034228586/when-i-call-carrie-fisher-a-jewish-princess-i-am

Betty White
Still alive.
Talking to my mates about this:
Sake: "Plot twist: Betty White outlives time itself."
Kai: "Betty White actually feeds off of celebrity deaths. She was feeling particularly sluggish this year."
Me: "I love you guys."

JFC that's really fucking depressing... I haven't seen a series of deaths so depressing since my grandparents died days apart from heartbreak. ::sad::

It truly is. Aside from dying for another, it's one of the most beautiful ways to go.

R.i.p. US politics, you'll be sorely missed.
Big question is, will Bernie Sanders still be alive in 4 years?

Just to annoyingly conversational here...
There are 2.6 million deaths in the US every year (2016). If it seems like there were too many "celebrity" deaths this year, maybe it's just because we've come to "know" way too many celebrities these days...
