I know a lot of people have families they'd rather not deal with, and I get it more than you know

I disowned mine last year over all kinds of shit and wrote this as a definitive "fuck off" so they'd finally leave me alone.

I hope it helps some people and feel free to hit me up if you have any problems yourself. I like to help where i can

I always have respect & slight envy for people who write these kinds of things. I couldn't though, it's just not my nature. My family is beyond though, really fucked up people. I once signed up on this website where you could choose a new family. You wouldn't believe the people I met. I didn't stay on there for very long.

A website for choosing new families? Oh that sounds marvelously awful. Can you link us?

My family, and my wife's families are pretty fucked up too. Unfortunately out of every two, I really love one... I cant stand my abusive, drunk, disgusting step mom, but love my pops more than anything, and so on. So I stay connected. My wife's family is just kind of creepy and scary, even for me, which is saying a lot. We found that moving away, and only having contact through Facebook and text has made it easy to continue to talk to the ones we love, while still avoiding the ones we despise.

Once I stumbled on to those daily talk shows while waiting for car repairs or something else. I was shocked and sickened. I've met bad people before but to consider them "family" brings a whole lot of problems.

I hardly have a friend in the area I grew up who didn't have shit for family. When I went to New Kensington (outside Pittsburgh) for school, I met so many fantastic people. I practically adopted two more moms and gained so much more family. And then I came home. My own family is quite dysfunctional as can be expected. But they're family and I love them. I don't intend to disown them, but I wouldn't be surprised if one day when they learn more about me that they'd disown me.

Yup.....been there, done that.

I moved away and keep in contact through Facebook and texting with those that I want to.

It's not like we choose our families........
