Could you be a bit more specific? Like it in what ways?

Horror-comedy? Return of the Living Dead.

Anthology? Creepshow.

Takes place at Halloween? The entire Halloween franchise.

Same director? The upcoming Krampus and Trick 'R Treat 2.

It's been in development hell for years, but I think they're finally ready to do it. The first film basically got screwed over by the studios, so it took years to really find it's audience (I try to introduce at least one new person to it every October).

The fact that they've signed Dougherty on to direct Krampus is probably a sign they're finally recognizing him as a talented horror director.

That said, at this point I don't think anything could live up to the expectations of TrT fans.

Well seldom do sequels live up to the expectations set by the first movie, but I'll be glad to see it get attention for the first movie. I finally saw it for the first time last year thanks to a friend's livestream and I just loved it.

The other two are both on my to-watch list...along with so many other films. Oh the suffering of a horror nerd!

^ I know the feel, bro.

Night of the Demons is fucking fantastic if you don't mind a little older school horror.

I myself AM old school horror, so Night of the Demons is an all time favorite. When anyone says great Halloween horror, this movie is one that immediately jumps to mind for me.

Is Trick 'r Treat truly that good? I watched the trailer and it looks like too many story lines are going on in the film.

I think it's an outstanding film, Boss. The story lines are weaved expertly and the entire movie is well paced. I'm a huge fan and I recommend it highly. I'm confident that you'll love it… and Sam. ::wink::

It's my all-time favorite film. All the stories get the time they need, and it's obvious thought was put into everything. Plus, in re-watching I always pick up on more stuff I missed the first time through.

Tvtropes gives the actions of Rhonda alone four different interpretations:

That's a lot of subtlety to squeeze into a fun little Halloween anthology.

That's right you will! You'd be crazy to pass this one up!

I would classify myself as old school horror too. If anything because 97% of my favorite movies are before the 90s and I hate CGI in comparison to a good prop or suit.

FYI, if anyone's curious I'm halfway through Burying the Ex now. I have yet to laugh. Joe Dante should be way more over-the-top.

It also doesn't help that, IMHO, Evelyn doesn't really become abusive until after she's a zombie. Before that it seemed more like she just didn't realize that she and her boyfriend had wildly different values, and thus didn't really work as a couple.

Also, the whole "dating two girls" thing has been done to death. It would have been a lot funnier if Olivia had been present when the zombie girlfriend first showed up. That way she and Max get to come up with zany scheme to get rid of Evelyn together, and Evelyn knows that he doesn't want her and she can go full-on stalker.

Edit: It got better as it went along. Still, had a lot more potential.
