First of all, while reading this.. please open this in the background (https://youtu.be/WU7SGn0MeP0?t=200). Thanks!

Dear horror.com community members,

I stumbled upon a great community that exists within a dying website, I can't applaud the moderators enough. This is truly amazing..

Doesn't matter how much you try.. in the end, this powerful community will tragically come to an end, but I will not let that happen!

I have recently finally finished my horror-based website and I would like this community to emerge and settle upon my grounds, I would like to lend your strength to establish a true masterpiece where horror-fans can come to together and talk about what they love most.

But for this I need your help...

Members.. join my army and I promise stability, features, updates, responsiveness & everything that you except from a good webmaster!

Moderators.. Join in a leading position at my website and I promise rewards for all of your work!

I am not a company, just a mere webmaster with a dream.. but I will not rest until I have accomplished my goals!

Join me at ScaredToWatch.com (https://www.scaredtowatch.com/forum)! It may seem empty, but that is why I need you!

Send an email by using our contact form (https://www.scaredtowatch.com/contact) if you want to join a staff position, moderators from horror.com have proven them self more than enough.

Suggestion, you might want to lighten the colors of the background of the text. Strains the eyes to try to read it.

Er, correction. I mean DARKEN. :)

I have darken the background of the posts, you're right that the balance between text color and background color wasn't balanced out correctly.

I will make sure to take a note on this to balance it even better.

Nice! I applaud you on opening a forum with all these FaceBook groups infesting the internet. It is quite hard to get membership when most people like the ease of posting on FB.

I, myself opened a forum two years ago but I opened it with 6 other people from around the world that I met on horror message boards. It's still going great but caters to the indie/underground scene.

Your site looks great in my opinion, one of the best new ones. I'll join. I already post on three forums daily including my own. I also mod two of them upcominghorrormovies.com and BloodyDisgusting. Its really fun and I wish you all the luck in the world.

Its funny...I did a similar advertising when I introduced my site...with music..

Here; ::big grin:: kinda lame.. ::embarrassment::

I used this song...oh gosh.

I posted a thread..

You need to add auto picture sizing and let the youtubes embed, not just have the link.

I musta missed this.

Moderators.. Grab the encouragement to embrace change and rebel against this webmaster by promoting my new community on this forum, join in a leading position at my website and I promise rewards for all of your work!

Not cool if serious. Everyone has a fav forum and are loyal to it. I'd lose this in your next sale pitch. Just saying.

I may be convinced to give it a try. But I gotta warn you, I'm a terrible forum member. 90% of my interaction will be posting my own youtube videos because I am a shameless whore. If interesting people do interesting things, I might take part.

But seriously, my people are all here, and unless you can convince them to go full time, I probably won't go full time.

I'm just being honest about that.

If you're cool with that, I'll pop in and check it out.

Thanks for all the comments! I appreciate it a ton.

I understand that the forum may not look like the most attractive asset of the site yet, There is still a lot of customisation to do, to make it more 'themey'. But I'm really happy for the people wanting to give it a try, I will do my best to make the website active as quickly as possible.

I have edit the part of my post about the moderators, I shouldn't have written that. My apologies.

Applepiee

Little less enthusiasm, its kinda creepy. ;)

I just posted. You really gotta do something with the background colors and the text colors. I can see people easily missing text even in bold letters.

Creepy sounds fine. We're in a horror forum anyways: ::danger::

About which colors are you talking exactly? I'm having a hard time pinpointing the problem.

Well here, the post I made.

https://www.scaredtowatch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5

The text before the first picture as grey on black isn't as easy to read as we have here on horror.com which is black on white. And white text on black isn't pleasant to read for very long. Its nice for a short message, but not something substantial. Between the two pictures is a line of text that is in bold, but still as grey on black doesn't catch the eye. It blends too much.

Can you review the colours again? I did some more adjustments.

Thanks for your feedback

The website colors are important for mood, but the forum really isn't. I also have always preferred white (or very light) background with black (or very dark) text. It's just more legible across the platforms. Plus, most sites let the individual user chg the colors if they want.

Its better, but like sculpt said its better with black text on white background even if you lose some of the atmosphere you might be trying to create.

Just throwing this out there, but it might be an idea to have a fully functional, tested, and final stage website/forum before trying to convince those from an existing fully functional forum to head on over to yours.
I'm fairly sure it's not something that'd be taken to kindly by the administration...though I don't personally even hear from them to confirm this.

As a long time member and newly appointed moderator - it's not something I'm personally inclined to act on - provided you keep this to one thread, and if I get reports about you badgering any members via PM or whatever, then we will have some issues - so you've been "advised".

This place has a lot of history, and is still relatively active even if only in comparison to other's I've observed.
I think the thing is, forums have had their heyday, I don't really believe you're going to bring something that innovative to the table that you'll be any more, or even as much a success as this place is currently.
I long ago came to the conclusion that forums, as much as I frequented them in the past, are largely dead. I've seen many try.

Hey, good luck though.

Just throwing this out there...

A color change is far from being unfinished.
How about we compare horror.com against scaredtoplay.com (And then I'm not talking about the user count)?

I don't know what crawled into your behind, but I am really only trying to do a good thing here. I am not here trying to convince people to buy my product or whatever, I'm not even running any ads.

Applepiee

Here I was trying to be constructive and pointing out some things that seemed obvious to me, and not to you?
Different perspective and all.
Though I can see my comment seems to have affected your pride a bit, or something?
Not my intention - though it does show that maybe you're a bit biased.

Personally, I would agree that a colour change/permanency required isn't the be all and end all...and while it's not "far from being finished" (your words not mine), but you are essentially coming to invite people to go and look at your unpainted house.

Compare all you like, if you feel the need to - wasn't saying you couldn't, wasn't saying I cared. Do what you like.

I haven't seen any advertising, aside from this thread which I said I was fine with.
I haven't seen any sales attempts either, or "running ads" which is why I didn't post anything remotely indicating that - though you seemed to think that was part of my point.

Now, as for you talking shit about what crawled into my behind...maybe get someone not blinded by how pretty their baby is, to actually read the words that I said, and translate them so that you might understand them better.
I mean hell, I know I'm an Aussie but surely my accent isn't coming across too thickly in the written word?

I even said that I wasn't inclined to act on this post in any way, even though I could have simply deleted it with some notion that it would "protect the integrity of our forum", I didn't. Anybody that knows me for dick knows that's not something I'd do, or give a shit to do.

All I said was that I don't want you to take it any further than you already have, or to start any PM badgering...which wasn't to imply I thought you were going to, just to let you know that it wasn't on, if you were considering it.

So...when you're talking about something having crawled up into someones behind, make sure your own head isn't wedged up yours.

Thanks though, for illustrating how you would to be around...I think I'll decline on joining, so now you can let me know how you'd never have let me in anyway.
Awww...
I'm sure you'll have just the best forum ever though.

Your thread can stay. Lose the attitude.

I can't put an avatar up, I need pictures, I'm a picture freak. I dislike having threads I do..'approved'

How did you get my youtube to embed?

Maybe you should have a thread like this in your place so questions and comments can be said there.
