Spinoff of The Walking Dead

Hmm.. sounds cheap.

I think they said it would contain even more drama.
Might binge it out of boredom when the season's over.

Episode 1 "Pilot" was much slower than I anticipated with lots of family drama setup. I thought the opening and the ending were good though and will give the next couple episodes a chance.

I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Started out thinking it would be cheap and shitty...and while it didn't grab me as much as the original series did immediately, I think there's something to be said for the build up.
In fact towards the end 1/3 of the episode, I was feeling a fair bit more uneasy that I have in quite some time watching more recent episodes of the main series.
...of course, I was kinda stoned off an edible...
but still.
Yeah, better than expected.

I don't care for zombies or zombie related things... Once in a while something will catch my eye, especially if it's old and cheesy. Or in the case of Fear the Walking Dead the dad is super fucking hot whoops. My Aunt was watching it with my brother (they're ''dead heads'') in the same room as me and I ended up watching the whole thing... damn now i wanna watch the next one and I don't even watch the original show this spun off from.

I watched it. I've posted before about the original show. How I stopped watching either last season or two seasons ago. When the show became darker and started killing off token characters and characters just for shock value.

With Fear the Walking Dead, it's a fresh start so I liked the slow, building character stuff. This is before the outbreak so everything is normal and we get to see how it happens. Unlike with Walking Dead how everything is almost immediately after the aftermath of the outbreak. I found it funny how the drug addict is the first to see the zombie. That teaser hooked me. How he's running for his life. Also how a shooting makes it's way around the Internet and it's questioned whether or not it's real.

Slept during most of the middle part. I doubt this is a show for me.

I loved that bit also. I can see that actually happening with today's society (if a zombie apocalypse were to actually happen). Back in the old days people were easy to convince that War of the Worlds was real. But with today's technology and effects, people are used to seeing the impossible appear real, so instead of being too easy to convince we're now harder to believe in the supernatural.

So when's the next episode? Feels like it's been about a week now.

Yeah I found the elements of how the modern human reacts to this going on one of the more interesting parts of the show...even if I was kind've eye rolling at them.

I am wondering if the kid that bought the knife to school will make it out alive, there's never really been a survivalist or "subject matter expert" nerd on the main title, could be interesting to see where he goes, if he makes it off that bus.

I don't know about where you are, cheebs, but here in the States it airs every Sunday night.

Oh, I don't wait for it to come here, we're ridiculously delayed, I just torrent absolutely everything I want to try and watch...so, your sunday = my monday, cool. Not too long to get it.

Maybe I'm just seeing too much around the Internet. But a lot of people seem to carry knives and lighters as every day items. Perhaps it's just because of today's world. When I grew up you would only take a few needed things in your pockets. These days people carry bags full of stuff. They might be more prepared for zombies than the people in this show.

Episode 2 "So Close, Yet So Far" This was better than the pilot. I thought the opening scene was properly tense. I liked the zombie attack in the school as well. The protest turning into a riot was pretty cool. Hopefully this show keeps improving.

Episode 3 "The Dog" This episode was an improvement on the previous two although it was a bit slower in the second half. I thought the riot scenes were really tense. Kind of funny watching a family play board games as the world falls apart around them. Seeing the hospital in chaos was wild and I think it makes sense as that would be one of the first places to fall. That poor German Shepherd. The gore in the scene where the barber shoots the zombie in the face twice with the shotgun looked fantastic. I thought "Good people are the first ones to die" was a great line. Wasn't expecting to see the military show up when they did.

Episode 4 "Not Fade Away" Great song to open the episode. Interesting seeing the military quarantine set up and funny their leader was such a massive jerk. The pacing in this was much slower than the previous episode unfortunately. It was pretty cool seeing Maddie escape the safe zone in an attempt to investigate the flashing light in Chris' video though. Kind of funny seeing her slap around her junky son as well. I thought they did a good job establishing the military shouldn't be trusted. With only two episodes left I'm curious what's next.

I got bored with it and turned it off halfway through. It's definitely not holding my attention like Walking Dead did/does.

I think i will download it and give it a watch I liked the early seasons of the walking dead but it didn't go anywhere for me, I wanted to know more about how it started or work towards trying to find some kind of cure - it does neither just more episodes about day to day life under the situation. Maybe thinks will be different with this one.

I like the show. I probably won't watch the Walking Dead again. But I like watching how this is building up. One thing I didn't like about the last episode was how it was setup for the Father character to see what happened with the people in the home across the city. And the Mother's actions were kind of silly since she knows what's out there.

The season seems short though so maybe they are speeding things up a bit. Only two more episodes left I think till next year.

Its mostly meh for me. What I did like, SPOILERS AHEAD:

was at the end of the third episode they were going to try to leave to go to the desert and wait out what was happening, but the army shows up and they stay home. They didn't quickly, by the third episode I mean, go in for another group of people avoiding large populated areas like in The Walking Dead. Though being stuck in the 5 mile fenced in area makes for dullness.

End spoilers

I think it would have been a lot better if the show were done from the military's perspective.

I don't think it's dull. It's showing what real people would do that put trust in their government. And discovering, slowly, what's going on. Where in Walking Dead the city was already overrun.

There isn't any stupid shock value stuff yet. That's why I gave up on Walking Dead. I felt like character deaths were for surprise. Or the rule of too many minority characters.

Yes I agree it what it is about, but that aspect would be fairly dull, I think, if it were to happen to us.

I agree on the deaths in The Walking Dead. I watch it because its an ok show and I tend to watch tv while I eat(its rare these days I'll sit down to watch a tv show. Like This is England. So very wonderful.). The Walking Dead has become how annoyed can you get with the same killing people over and over. Basically oh hey, things are looking up for us! And then the zombie gods shit all over them. Repeated over and over and over.

I don't think it would be dull in real life. I would be scared. Zombies might play on the idea of the masses against the few. I haven't given it a lot of thought and I don't know the origin of zombies. But if you look at riots and how the masses act against a few it can be crazy.

Episode 5 "Cobalt" This episode was a bit better than the last and I thought the tension throughout was pretty good. The military prison camp and medical center scenes were really unsettling. I'm not sure what to make of the salesman character just yet and am curious as to why he saved Nick. I am liking the Salazar character despite him taking the young soldier hostage and torturing him. Travis' ride along was interesting and I wasn't expecting the military unit to become overwhelmed so easily. Liza having to shoot Ofelia in the head was kind of heartbreaking. I'm curious to see who survives the finale next week.

Meh I just couldn't get into it. It didn't really pull me in like I thought it would. I personally think it is kind of weird to have this show going on the same time Walking Dead is still putting out new seasons.

Binged on this the past weekend via NETFLIX and quite disappointed . A lot of good things going for it, but dismal characters (Oh, how I was hoping the junkie son would become lunch!::mad::) and languid pace kill any momentum. Thought Ruben Blades and the hot Kim Dickens were good, but having to wait up to the last episode for any excitement was too much. Pass on this one.
