Halloween is still two months away, but there's already a horribly offensive new costume looming on the horizon.

The retailer Spirit Halloween plans to sell a Caitlyn Jenner costume at its pop-up stores in New York City this year, according to the New York Daily News.

“Caitlyn Jenner has proven to be the most important real-life superhero of the year, and Spirit Halloween is proud to carry the costume that celebrates her," Trisha Lombardo, the company’s head of PR and marketing, told the Daily News. She offered no further details about the item, which will go on sale within the next four to six weeks.

......

Vincent Villano of the National Center for Transgender Equality expressed his concerns.

"There's no tasteful way to 'celebrate' Caitlyn Jenner or respect transgender people this way on the one night of the year when people use their most twisted imaginations to pretend to be villains and monsters," he said in a statement to HuffPost on Friday.

What do you think HDC: cultural insensitivity or cultural hysteria?

its a Halloween costume. In my years as a Halloween freak, I have worn or encountered costumes like Porn Smurf, Demonic Priest, Cannibal Zombie Nun, Aborted Fetus, JFK Zombie, The Human Wang and a dozen others that I'm sure SOMEONE found offensive. I don't see anything wrong with those or any other costumes, including a Jenner outfit.

It's Halloween, so just have freakin fun already!

Sweet Jesus...people always have to get their panties in a twist over something. I agree with hammer...who gives two shits.

Cultural hysteria.

Don't care. Oh I guess I can comment. People do not just dress up as monsters for halloween. The world would probably be a better place if every halloween the angel of death visited on us the slaying of all 'cat' costumed people. I'm joking, mostly. Dressing up as a celebrity is nothing new to halloween.

I guess they should stop selling Michael Myers costumes because it "offends serial killers"

LOL, I love you guys! You guys crack me up (in a good way)!

I was always with you BossWall -- I used to be really annoyed with the all the chicks in the sexy-cat costumes. I wanted Halloween scary; and found the sexy-cat so cheap, cliche & generic. But some women looking for guys are going to go sexy -- it doesn't bother me anymore. But it still gets no points for her being imaginative.

Caitlin Jenner

I don't get how Caitlin Jenner can be a retail costume. I guess it's a wig (straight shoulder length brown hair) with traditional makeup? Does it come with a thin material dress?

Would have to be restricted to a man wearing it, I would think, right? I guess I would get that as a Caitlin Jenner if a dude was wearing that on Halloween. But is it like the sexy-cat costume call for dudes? ::big grin::

Offensive

As far as being offensive... I'd never want to wear an overtly offensive costume all night among people I didn't know. Sure some are funny, but I never got why someone would want to offend people for their personal entertainment... I mean let's be real, that indicates a rather caustic psychosis, not someone I'd want to be around. No offense Repo'd ::wink::

I'm not sure anyone really finds it offensive. I guess we'd have to ask a real public wearing cross-dresser if they think the costume is offensive to them.

People dress up as Lincoln on Halloween, and nobody thinks that's offensive to Lincoln, or presidents. Would have to be the 'invisible intention', wouldn't it?

Difference is Lincoln is dead, transexual people are alive.

That is true, that is one difference, among many differences. If you were serious, I could counter that many presidents are still alive too, which would be a similarity...

But my point was, the question is the intention of wearing a Jenner costume. In the same way some people have worn a Lincoln costume, with no ill intent to Lincoln or whatever anyone thinks that stands for, there may be people who wear a Jenner costume with no ill intent; and some in support of Jenner. I personally would think that would be an odd way to support Jenner, and I would guess a small minority, but my point still stands.
