Am I the only one who thought this movie was awful except for the first kill?

I'm just going to leave this here:

I Know What You Did Last Summer

I swear Sarah Michelle Geller is an immortal. That aside. I've never seen this before, but it's making me nostalgic for high school. It's painfully accurate within the first half hour how we have all these talents and dreams and hopes of achievements for after school. Then not even a year later everything goes to shit and you're still living with your parents working a shit job to make ends meet. ...Oh and there's a dead guy who wasn't dead but is now dead.

I'm actually very impressed with the characters. A bit cliche but each of them still unique in a way. You feel sorry as hell for Geller's character. I may have rambled before and it was her situation I was referring too. Just when you think her life is shit enough, ol' hook hand comes a knockin'.

I realize it's Hewitt's character we're supposed to feel sorry for but shit she's so Mary Sue. I do love how he toys with her though. It's so amusing to watch her go crazy with the waiting.

JFC I wish Geller's ex would get axed. Why the hell would hook-hand let him live after knocking him over with a car. He's so fucking intolerable. Always overly angry, aggressive, and abusive IN FRONT OF HIS FRIENDS AND TO HIS FRIENDS. Hell I would've thrown him in the river with the "dead" guy.

Hewitt's ex on the other hand is a bit of a Gary Stu. Poor, pretty, angsty. Doesn't want to grow up to be daddy but whoops I'm a fisherman now. Bet he and Hewitt are the only survivors.

After movie: Called it. Why the hell does Ray or whatever his name is try so hard to keep Hewitt's character alive. She did nothing but push him away and accuse him. Bland as toast without butter both of you. Get axed in a sequel.

I actually did like this though. Mostly because of the mystery and actual build up to kills. Didn't kill them right away, toyed with them a little, nice and suspenseful. I would watch again.

TL;DR
I'm a sucker for a classic slasher, but that's not to say the movie wasn't without its flaws.

I wouldn't use the word Awful, but it was pretty bad, yes. Very mediocre.

Among the slew of scream clones (even though scream itself was a deliberate parody) that came out in the late 90's, I thought it was "ok".
I mean the idea of getting hooked was pretty fucked up...
I remember quite liking the soundtrack of this one.
Nothing great. Was more interesting on first viewing where one was still wondering who the actual killer was.

The sequel was much of the same.

There was an attempt at a third film in this series that had very VERY little to do with the originals, now if you want to see a truly aweful, pointless movie, there it is.

It was...a thing that existed. Neither good nor bad enough to be memorable to me beyond "that thing Kevin Williamson did after Scream."

I thought it was one of the better 90s slasher / horror movies. The whole cast is good. I like the twist of the end of high school fun leading to the creation of the slasher character. The sequel was so so. But the third one, just don't watch it. Completely horrible movie if you can even call it that. Different characters. I think different setting. Nothing at all like the first two.

i am a big fan of it, one of my favourite slashers. I even kinda like the second, in a perverse way, but the third pretty much blows, though the spider scene thing was cool. I like the basic idea of the messages, kinda creepy, and the hook hand fisherman look was pretty good to. The aggresive bloke was a total dick, and i'm amazed anyone tolerated him, let alone, hung about with him. The hook idea seemed to me to be a rip-off of candyman, altough i'm not sure which of the two came first.
