It's actually one of my two new-ish ferrets.
This one's Zeus, he's about the size of my smaller cat.
Used to belong to my brother, so yeah, when he got bored with 'em, I got stuck. Not that I mind, they're cool little fuckers. They're like what a cat would be if it stayed as playful as a kitten, wasn't stuck up, or didn't stink...
They tend to bite others, but for some reason, neither of them has ever gone for me.
I like 'em.
I see what you mean about the mole thang...I just got a shot of him yawning, is all, they have these almost "flip-top" heads, and they're as flexible as silly-putty.
They attack my big dog Loki, not seriously, they kinda play - it's pretty funny watching them go for his toes...when they latch onto his face, they usually get thrown tho...
They change colour slightly with the weather, they're related to the mink, and get this, you relax 'em by dangling them by their necks...?!?
Zeus has a female companion named Hera (yeah, yeah, my brother was a mythology geek) who has a pattern on her face similar to a red panda. If I can get the light right, I'll post one of her.
Do you guys not have them, or is it just that you didn't recognise them in the pic?
Anyways, here's one more that looks a little more ferret-ish...

I dunno what they taste like, newb...you guys have squirrels over there right? I'm betting pretty similar.

If I knew shit about changing pics, you might just be onto something there, nine9.
Waiting on your rats, Vod - I think you guys have a different species of pet rats over there, it's be interesting to have A look.

Why don't we make this a post a pet pic thread, hey guys?
Yknow, just if you all think it's a good idea to give our friends a shout-out up in here...

Hey, cool...
I'll post a pic of some of mine when they were babies, and a couple of the last generation..
What I heard was right too, you guys over there do get a different species (or breed - whatever) of rat.
The ones in your pic have a more stout body, a wider head and a broader snout, the ones we get over here are more slender, longer, and have a slightly pointier nose. However, the difference isn't very great at all, they do look PRETTY MUCH the same.

Rats rock , man! they're so easy to take care of, they eat just about anything, they're interesting to watch, and the thing I love the most about 'em is that they like us too - they actually seek human companionship. It's funny how people who haven't met and/or owned rats just don't "get" that, huh?

Anyways, as promised, I took a couple of pics of the female ferret, Hera.
I'll do HER yawn first:

Hey Cheeb! Hera is adorable! Finally someone else knows about red pandas too! They are my fav zoo animal but not many people I know have seen them. They had them at our zoo the last time we were there.

Love Spike too! I have to post mine, but I will have to bug my staff again to put pics on disc no scanner etc. I'll have to get my film put on disc when I develop it.

Damn f13 - I never knew there was a difference between the terriers mentioned!...you like dogs then?
Hampsters look funny...we only get "guinea pigs" here, they're kinda vaguely alike
Yeah 9, I like red pandas, they're cool - kinda crazy tho, but that DOES make them more interesting to watch.
What was really weird about hera, was that before she last changed her colours, she had the same colour as well as pattern of a red panda.
If you like those, have you ever seen the animal generally called the "tasmanian devil"? much the same atitude as the pandas, but more badger-shaped. Very territorial...The tasmanian tiger (more like a dog, but not quiet either) WAS pretty awesome, but they're pretty much extinct, other than a few sightings over the past few decades.

My favourite zoo animal would be the "sun bear", they're just lil black/red bears. I've seen a few dolphins when I lived by the beach too, they're friendly as anything...

I'll get onto posting pics of the rats, Loki (My dog), AND dusk and phantom (the eeergh...cats...) within a day or two.

How many of you here grew up with dog/s? Yknow, I was thinking, I just dunno how I could've never had a dog...seems like every kid should have one at a point, I don't know why, but my dogs really made the "being young" phase just a little easier to deal with...

This is working out cool!

Blonde, whenever's good, we'll just try to keep the thread going 'til you get your pics happening, but hey, you can always just tell us about 'em too, yknow?
What kinda cat you got?
They got pretty gigantic rabbits over in NZ right?

Still seaching for the disk that has pics of the cats and dog..

nine9, if you like rodents, and youre gonna end up getting another pet, try a rat, just so u know what all us rat owners are talking about...

Keep 'em coming.

cheebacheeba
06-12-2004, 07:44 PM
Oh yeah, just thought I'd mention...
Having a lot of pets is cool in one way, but on the other hand, it's very hard to give them ALL the attention they deserve. The female rats (there's the most of them, only 4 boys outta 11) are a bit of a problem, they're all still cool, but only like 2 of them will "hang out" with me...the boys are all fine too.

So yeah, over the next few years, I'm gonna narrow it down some (I'm not gonna kill 'em or anything, just wait for them to "drop off"), I think the maximum I'm gonna want after learning from experience, at any given time is:

*1 dog
*2 ferrets
*4 rats (2 males and 2 females, as they need a friend, but they also gotta be in seperate-sex sancts due to their MENTAL "need 2 breed")
*And maybe, just maybe, if I can find the right one, I MAY one day own another cat...I think I'll need a few years to cool off after the current 2 tho...

yep...even though that sounds like a few, they'd get way more attention than the current lot, especially the rats.

yeah cool dude, my cat is a cat...what more is there to it? ok that sounds a bit stupid im not stupid but my cat isnt some prissy ....ok i take that back she is prissy isnt some purebred thing...she is ...a ...mongrel i guess but shes cool...i guess...same age as me, shes getting on a bit but she should last for awhile...hoopefully................ill do the scanner soon...thanks for ya patience...:D

Man, you guys get some cool coloured mice over there, I like the brown one...all we usually get are these ugly 'lil grey "street" looking mice.
I much prefer rats myself, it just doesn't seem to be a point for me to own both, but then again, with all the rats I got, I don't think I would wanna either. My last mice were at the age of 5, they ran under my house when we lived out on a RAAF airbase, surrounded by bushland for miles in each direction...so yeah, seemed the mice ran into the red-belly living under the house.

Whats the material in your mouse tank?
