In the mid to late 1990s I remember seeing UK import horror books at Chapters in Canada from a UK publishing house.
These books all had a black background and each one had a monochromatic pattern on the cover in a primary color like red or green or yellow. The patterns were made up of abstract images of elements from the books.
I think one of them was about a British town or village that had gone into an alternate dimension and was fragmented into different areas. There were at least 4 or 5 books by this author on the shelf.
Authors it was definitely not: Clive Barker, Simon Clark, Shaun Hutson, Neil Gaiman, James Herbert. It also was not Richard Laymon, who although American, was published by a UK company.
This is a rough idea of what the covers looked like:

Hope someone can help me find the name of this author.
