Does anybody know what this movie is?

This is all I can remember of it, I have been searching for what this movie could be for years with no results. Any ideas?

stormy night
3 people are the beginning - mother and sister and baby in the crib
see out of the air vent a hook tries to draw the baby in the crib towards it
one of them puts themselves in the way and gets drawn in
then it cuts to a couple of years later and it looks like theres going to be a show down, with the people there to kill the monsters, or to get revenge
and something about gold
and it was set in a church

Could it be "Goblin" 2010? A goblin takes infants every Halloween or some such. That movie isn't that old though.

Parts of your description: gold, a church, towns people gathering, a hook scene, sounds like The Fog 1980.

Also, it's common to mix two movies in ones mind over the years.

sounds in parts like ghoulies, think cats eyes also has a troll in it, not sure about the crib though
