if i had cash i would fund this. however, i don't know how they r going to spin it out into a half good film, also the jason comparrisons will be inevitable. It was cool when you saw a jason style character in a video game, may not be so much when you see him in the same media as jason himself

Dean, neilold raises a good point you need to address upfront before soliciting donations: the film would almost certainly be sued by New Line for copyright infringement. Do you have someone on retainer willing to fight?

There can't be a copyright issue with New Line because the movie will be based on the game which was created by Namco. As for the hockey mask reference to Jason, the mask in Splatterhouse is not a hockey mask at all. It's a terror mask possessed by a demon.

I don't see how it would be a problem. The creators of Superman tried making an issue with The Greatest American Hero TV show, saying that Ralph Hinkleys suit and powers were too close to Superman. They didn't succeed at making any case though.

DC sued fawset, for similar thing and got rights to Captain Marvel (Shazam) for similarities.

You'll have no problems making what you like as long as it's a fan film, which means you can't make any money from it, or charge people to watch it etc But you can make it, and let people watch it for free ;-)
