What are some really good/great novels that combine science fiction and horror. I'm already familiar with the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Neal Asher's Polity novels, the Hyperion novels, Scot Sigler's Infected, and The Atrocity Archives. Any pointers?

Pontypool Changes Everything is a good one. It's pretty much a zombie book, but the virus is transmitted through language, and it makes the people not make sense of language and go insane. There's also a movie based on it called Pontypool, which I haven't seen yet.

Ryan, if you do like lovecraft, I recommend the conqueror worms by Brian Keene. However, I think the title has changed since then. Now it's called earthworm gods or something like that. Amazon it.

The Hot Zone is a very timely book to read right now.

Have liked all the Brian Keenes books I've read so far and he's well worth checking out, especially the zombie books. GHOUL is the best effort from him, in my opinion, even if it doesn't fall into this category.
Also, if you like Lovecraft, check out Richard Matheson, especially I AM LEGEND and THE SHRINKING MAN...two of my all time favorite fiction books, especially the latter.

I have read Matheson, and am defiantly a fan of his. I read Keene's the Rising back in high school so I might want to check out some more of his stuff.
