worst modern day horror director. My contribuotion is Brad Sykes, for such abominations as
Killjoy
Camp blood
Mutation
to name just a few/far too many.

I can't really think of any off the top of my head, so i'll just say Stephen King. He is a tremendous writer, but his film Maximum Overdrive was terrible. I watch it from time to time, but it was terrible. Luckily, it was King's only movie. I suppose that's considered modern (I did not see that part of the original post, until after I posted).
Rob Zombie
I was wondering when that was coming. I am surprised it happened so soon in the thread.

Well, then I won't be able to participate in this thread then, because that was the first name that popped into my mind when I saw the title of the thread ::big grin::
I can't think of any other obvious choices. Most directors have had their good and bad moments... and I think Rob Zombie gets a lot of crap just for being Rob Zombie, even if I don't think he's fantastic.

I'm not. (*snore....*)
I don't know any crappy directors off the top of my head because I don't watch many crappy movies. I tend to do a bit of research before each film I watch, and my watchlist is way too long to waste time on garbage. And if I do accidentally watch a terrible film, it's a certainty that I won't remember the director's name.
Charles Band
The name was familiar, but I had to look him up. Wow is he prolific, especially if you include his production credits. Of the nearly 300 titles, the only one on the entire list that I've seen is From Beyond, which I enjoyed. I know I'm supposed to have seen Tourist Trap, but haven't yet. He didn't direct those two movies though, he was Executive Producer. Maybe he stayed far enough out of the way for them to turn out okay. :)

I when I first saw the thread my thoughts went to Charles Band.
I think Puppet Master was the only thing from his I like.
I have a few of his films from buying the walmart $5 8 horror movies in one dvd's and all of them are just stupid.
