"The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future 'REC 4 Apocalypse.'"

This may actually be good I'm keeping my fingers crossed it is done boldly without any consessions made for mainstream audiences who weren't interested in the other two films.

looks better than the second, i prefered it when they kept it as infected, did not like it when they turned it into possesed.

What's your opinion on this movie?
Personally, I hated it. I put off watching it for weeks, since I can't watch it all time (when my younger sister is around) and finally watched it yesterday. Only to be very dissapointed. It was a horrible movie, cheap and not even found footage like the previous Rec's!

HA! It was pretty bad. The only thing that I liked about it was the vision of the bride with the chainsaw, which is probably what drove them to have it at a wedding... either that or maybe it was just another generic zombie movie in the original script but they decided to throw it into the franchise (like Saw II...)

Could be it yeah...
I love the Rec series (as you probably noticed) and this one was a real let down :(
I expected a lot from it.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about it, either.

Dreadful movie, though the bride looked hot.

REC 3 was made to inform us more on virus and the possessed.
It's a good movie imo as long as you don't compare it to the style of the first 2.

Thought it was awful. I wasn't even concerned with the move away from found footage, since the genre has been played out. Its just that the movie was incredibly weak compared to the previous instalments. The whole movie felt like a desperate attempt to appeal to a wider audience and lost everything that made the first two movies amazing. Even as a stand alone movie its crap.

It was pretty bad, let's hope the fourth Rec will be better.

I re-watched it again last month and it actually got better. Not in the same league as the first two but i kinds liked it the second time round. But i still hope part 4 will be as good as the first two and not in line with the third.

Seems like most filmmakers don't even really try these days…or am I just an old school horror geek who likes a little artsy fartsy with my gore?

Ah, exactly the way to pitch it to prospective producers, "The mainstream audiences weren't interested in the first two films, so we're going keep it the same! Whatayasay?! Invest your money for arts sake?!"
::wink:: On the contrary, Fear, if ya don't mind me saying, in the context of the foreign film horror market, mainstream audiences were interested. A 81% approval rating from some 50k audience votes on Rottentomatoes.com. This Spanish made film hit the mainstream purse, and they will milk it until it's dry.

It's worse for me. I saw the first Rec about a year ago with a pal... very enthusiastic to see one of 'the best horror films of the 2000s'. I really didn't care for REC. Thought the story/plot/characters were very shallow (not to mention the "foreigners" insultingly portrayed). I didn't find the story directing/cinematography particularly exciting or original. Neither did my buddy.
I'm glad people really enjoyed it. I just don't get the attraction. Naturally I won't be bothering with the other 3 films. I thought Blair Witch & Cloverfield were far superior found footage films; I don't have a problem with the premise/technique.

I actually liked the third one, but was originally disappointed it didn't follow the same story line. I agree it was much more straight zombie action, but thought it was entertaining, splatterific and pretty funny. Feels very out of place in the series though.
The first two were awesome. I agree that they didn't need to go all possession with it, but I guess it made it interesting, albeit unnecessary. And the first American remake with Jennifer Connelly was waaaay better than I expected it to be.

so the general consensus is that the 3rd is shit but still worth a watch. I liked both 1 & 2.. thought they were fantastic. I've probably watched both 1 & 2 one after the other around 4 or 5 times now.
I like the sound of the third and a bit of back story would be good to see.

Whoops, Jennifer Carpenter, not Jennifer Connelly.

hahaha - Connelly would have done a MUCH better job. ::wink::
I actually really liked Quarantine, the American remake of the original film. Except for Carpenter. I found her soooooo annoying. I found her unwatchable on Dexter too. Am I the only one who isn't in love with her??

I thought Rec 3 was good, maybe not as good as first 2 but still a good watch!!
