So I gave this game a try, No More Room In Hell (http://store.steampowered.com/app/224260/?snr=1_7_15__13). I got sucked into it so hard that even though I just installed it on Thursday, I ended up dumping 20 hrs into it over the weekend. Yes, it is another zombie game, but it is really fun and very challenging as well.

It's not like Left 4 Dead or Killing Floor or Dead Island, it's more of a realistic horror game than an all out action game. Its a multiplayer game, I guess you could play it solo but it would be impossible to win. There are guns, but ammo is scarce, so you have to mostly do melee combat. Melee combat is risky as well because sometimes the zombies can grab you and bite you. If you get bit, there is something like a 50/50 chance you will start to turn into a zombie yourself. The best thing to do is just stay away from zombies on escape maps. There are maps where you have to hold out against waves of zombies, so you do have to kill them, but those maps are a lot harder than escape maps.

There are a lot of dark areas where it is hard to see, so more of an emphasis on horror. The zombies shamble pretty quietly, they don't move fast (well some do) but they are relatively silent, so you really have to keep an eye open. These zombies are straight out of Night Of The Living Dead. The game actually feels like a homage to the original NOTLD more than anything else. In fact there is a map where you are in a house just like the one in NOTLD, the map is called 'Isolated, and in it you have to survive wave after wave, it gets so hard that you have to decide where to hold out, the basement or the second floor. By the way there is a safe with a pistol and ammo in it on the second floor. The combination of the safe is the year in which the movie which inspired that map was made in.

The graphics are pretty good, NMRIH is using the Source engine, so everything looks nice and runs smoothly. What's really nice is the game is FREE. At first I thought it was a mod for Half Life 2, but it is a free stand alone game. There are no advertisements and no items to buy, this is a project the developers do in their spare time, and Valve let them use the source engine for it (seriously I love Valve).

The player population is very healthy right now, in fact most servers were full. You can play each map with up to 8 other people. Without some teamwork you will lose quickly though, so if you want to last more than 5 minutes you need to coordinate strategies with your team. If you treat this like an action game, you will run out of ammo, get bit, and die fast, but if you treat it like a horror game, you can last.

Anyway, give this game a try, after all it will cost you nothing but a bit of time at the worst, and you might just find it a whole lot of fun!

For those of you who decide to dive in, here are some important game play elements which aren't immediately obvious:

Communication- If other players are far away from you, they can't hear your mic or read your text. The further away from you they are, the quieter you will be to each other. To get around this you need to pick up a walkie talkie, that makes it so anyone can hear or read you at any distance. However, if they don't have a walkie talkie as well, you won't be able to hear them from long distances. I would say the distance is something like 20 meters.

Infection- Once you get infected, you will turn. It takes a couple minutes, but it is inevitable. Pills will stave it off for awhile, but it only postpones the turning; pills don't cure you. In some maps it better to just go die. Freshly dead players are very dangerous zombies, if you are about to turn, let your team know!

Guns and Ammunition- Do your team a favor and only grab ammo for the gun you have. Each gun uses the appropriate ammo, ie Kalishnikovs use 7.62, Winchesters use .308, etc. You have to be able to recognize the ammo packaging for the gun you have. To see what ammo you need, hold down the reload button for 5 seconds to check your ammo status. This shows you how much ammo you have, and the type of ammo you need. There are no cross hairs or automatic ammo counters. You need to keep track of how much ammo you spend yourself, and you need to use iron sights to aim. This game is not Left 4 Dead. Like I said, ammo is scarce; use it sparingly! Don't waste it on zombies that you can just walk around. And make sure you have that head shot lined up before pulling the trigger!

Weight and Movement Speed- The more stuff you carry, the slower you will walk or run. Travel as light as you can, this makes it easier to run around and inbetween zombies. Weight decreases your stamina. The heavier melee weapons such as sledge hammer and fire axe need stamina to use continuously. You can also sprint for longer stretches with more stamina.

Defense Maps- In the maps where you have to defend a location, (where there are 'zones'), keep track of the zone percentages. Depending on the map, they can have between one to three zones. Once all zones reach zero percent, you lose. These maps are the most difficult, they require you to conserve your ammo the most, and they rely on lots of melee combat. Like I said, melee combat is perilous.

Melee Combat- To get a harder hit, hold down the primary attack key and let go when you want to hit. This take a lot more stamina, but it hits a lot harder. Keep as far away from the zombies when melee attacking them. It's better to miss a lot than it is to hit a lot and then get bit. Let the zombies come to you, don't run at them and try to hit them. Hit them, back up, hit them, back up, hit them, back up- don't move forward to attack them!

The best melee weapons are the Lead Pipe, Fire Axe, Sledge Hammer, and Machete. The lesser melee weapons are the baseball bar, crowbar, and spade. Don't even bother attacking with any other melee weapon, you will just get killed.

Oh yeah! This game is terrific! A little bit stiff in the melee and the AI could be better. But it's still a great game to play with friends. Really hard to. Wave 3 is terrifying (no spoilers). Btw! We on GnGletsplay are posting a video from this game soon if you want to see it before trying it! :D
