This thread is inspired by a comment made by one Lee Widener in the thread asking what horror movies you would take a desert island. To wit:
I don't care. I'm rebelling. Honestly, to be stuck watching the same 5 movies till the end of my existence sounds more like torture to me than anything else.
This leads me to ask: do you enjoy one form of horror entertainment more than another, and why?
Personally, I enjoy horror films first---which first got me interested in the genre---though in recent years fiction has been mounting a strong challenge for first place.

I love it all for different reasons. Games being interactive can really help to convey a sense of desperation and horror if done right while literature can use your own imagination to create fear unlike anything else... add that to the suspense or visual thrills of a good movie/show and toss in the exhilaration of some great music (hey, where's music?) and I couldn't choose if I had to!
As for art, I know this is a simple answer but books, movies, and games are all art IMO.

Movies. I'm an avid gamer too but the only horror game I ever really got into was Dead Space and of course they turned that franchise into just another shooter. Same with Resident Evil. I'd like to play some of the Silent Hill games but I guess the current gen re-releases are actually worse than the old PS2 versions. Meh, I'll just keep playing Skyrim over and over I guess lol.

If I could have picked music, it's possible that I would have... I'm not completely sure, and luckily I didn't have to make that choice :D
I chose movies...
I would love to see more horror games, though... there really aren't a lot of them, and most of those that exist aren't particularly good. I wonder why the horror genre hasn't really been explored much in the gaming industry.
I also love good horror litterature, but these days because of my bad neck, reading is something I don't do a lot of anymore... but I do love audio books.
So, why did I choose movies? I guess a well done horror movie has a bit of most of the options we had to choose from... the good story, the music, the art... it's only really missing the interaction and the feeling of being sucked into a story and a character that a good game can give you.
