I'm looking for some essentially shitty horror movies which, for some reason or another, turned out to be pretty great.

Possibly straight to disc, obscure films with a just something that makes it stick out from others... maybe a villain is just sick as hell, or the atmosphere just works... anything.

Not quality underrated films, but pure dreck with a perhaps accidentally outstanding quality. Or two.

Anything? Thanks.

Here is my favorite bad movie, Robot Monster. It's probably too old for you, but it really is fun.

Full movie on youtube.

Robot Monster is great.

Try the 1934 classic Maniac.

Check out the Sci-fi channel movies, they're classics.

Sharktopus, Piranhaconda, Super Shark, Two-headed Shark, Crocosaur... there are quite a few and without exception are hilariously and outstandingly bad :-)

(Several of them are on Youtube btw)

Why haven't you add Sand Sharks? Btw, I'm looking forward to check out Sharknado; there's quite a buzz about it lately.:D

I love Robot Monster

Giant Claw is fun and Troll 2 is great to laugh at although it is terrible

Hi,
thanks for the suggestions.
And they all look fun,
but I guess I wasn't clear...
I wasn't really talking about simply entertaining...
I'm looking for something that's actually quite dark, scary, sick, etc.
Not fun.
Something that makes you stop for a second and go "whoa fuck!"

Sorry if I'm being to vague, but that's what I'm looking for.
But other suggestions are always welcome!
Thanks.

Here here, some of the ones you mention are genuinely scary and unsettling as well.

Santa Slay....Great movie, actually had a horror feel to it.

Jack's Closet - Movie is actually an abuse movie disguised behind a horror film

Watch Me - Not even a B rated film, Horrible budget (I say a budget of $800). A play off of the "ring" kinda movies but actually pretty good and had a great suspense and a few good scare scenes.

Vile actually a surprisingly good movie for looking like it would be awful.

Visitor Q from Takashi Miike. What a slippery slope this movie is. It isn't full on horror, but it does have plenty of horrific elements. Murder, incest, necrofilia, male anal rape and after it is all done you will feel great. I'm not kidding. Despite being shot on a handy cam this japanese low budget film is a real gem. Takashi is, of course, a huge director now-a-days.

Curse of Chucky, one of the worst I've ever seen. But people just love it due to the fact that Chucky came back as horror..film still sucked though. Bad acting, cheap effects, boring.(Chucky dosent come out until the last 20 minutes of the film.) too much gore, which the movies don't need.

Also the movie Vile, (2012). It really had nothing great to it, just pure torture, which got old after a while. Not really that cliched, but not that good either.

I found Dreamcatcher (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0285531/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) to be pretty awful... And incredibly entertaining.

One of my favorite Podcasts, How Did This Get Made covered a few horror movies - If you like Good "Bad" Movies, you might want to watch the movie and then listen to the Podcast. ::big grin::

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (http://www.earwolf.com/episode/halloween-iii-season-of-the-witch/)

I fully agree. This movie embodies the snowball effect, but made out of fire. So you can look forward to end because this film goes out in a blaze of glory!

I never tire of "Spookies" 1986. Has to been seen...words fail me. "Dead Kids aka Strange Behaviour" 1981 is another...

Feast 1 to 3.
Gory, fun monster stuff.
And the monsters are people in suits. Usually better than CGI imo.

Some for the disturbing area are definitely HENRY:PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER (1989), THE REFFLECTING SKIN (1991-very David Lynch-ish) and although most people don't consider it a horror fil, DELIVERANCE (1972) scared me senseless the first time I saw it.
Other posters have listed some good titles as well like THE KILLER SHREWS (1959)and ROBOT MONSTER,(1953) and you can definitely throw in THE TINGLER (1959) as well. such audacious little efforts that are better than they sound
