I've tried everywhere I can think of and eventually happened on this lovely site and hopefully someone on here can help me! I bought a second hand iPod and found an audio book mp3 of a supernatural/horror story but the first 30 seconds and the tags were missing. I can relate the basis plot but little else as the iPod has died and I'd like to buy a copy of the book as I remember it as being really gripping and effecting (especially listening to it walking through the woods at dusk!)
It's set in England, the main protagonist can see the spirits of the dead and is haunted by an experience with a demon at a deserted house. He is contacted by an ex army officer investigating (I think) his brother's death after he sees ghosts at the funeral.
I seem to remember there's a link to a girl in a photograph who's spirit is cursed and a demon that has been released in the aforementioned house during a séance or black mass led by a well known group of occultists (might have been Crowley)
