Do you consider "Thrillers" to be horror? I can never decide if a film like The Woman in Black should properly be called a horror film. Sure, this sort of film can be frightening, but they rarely seem horrific. What do you think?

Personally, I don't care.
Horror comes in many forms. Hell just reading the evening paper can be pretty horrific. I personally would put " The Woman In Black" in the "horror" category .

Personally, I consider some thrillers to be horror. For instance I would regard Se7en, Psycho, and The Silence of the Lambs as horror, while I would not regard North by Northwest or Rear Window as horror. It simply depends.

While I'm not a big fan of most thriller movies, I do consider some thrillers to be part of horror. They do try to 'thrill' you, either with excitement or fear. I consider excitement more towards the action category, and fear/suspense towards the horror category.
Like The Sixth Sense is a good supernatural thriller that fits in the horror category.

I think you are hitting the nail on the head there. I think the best horror thriller is Rosemary's Baby. That film just builds creepy feelings on top of skin crawling in slow, slick layers.

I'm in line with the general consensus here in that some thrillers can be put into the horror category. Honestly I find films that are based in the "real" world to be far scarier than any zombie/living doll/monster film running about. I think that the scariest monster out there in mankind.

There are always grey areas, but in general I don't consider thrillers to be horror. Just because something is scary, it doesn't make it a horror movie. I'm scared to watch the news, but that doesn't make it a horror documentary. I hate war movies, but - they're war movies, not horror movies, no matter how scary they might be.
For example, I don't consider Silence of the Lambs to be a horror movie at all. It's a crime thriller. That doesn't mean it's a bad movie - it just means that if I had expected to watch a horror movie, I would have been very disappointed.

I feel there's a difference between what scares you unintentionally and what is made to scare intentionally. Horror movies are made to scare you, that's the main point. It's a work of fiction, if it's not then it's documentary. Thriller is more to thrill, excites you not to scare. Like you go on rollercoaster ride to get thrilled, while you go into haunted house to get scared. When you watch news, there are certain subject that scares certain people, like gore in accidents for example, but that is not horror like in horror movies.. it's 'horrifying' yes but it's not intentionally made to scare you, it's reality.
There are many subgenres in thriller. The only subgenre that in my opinion is related to horror is supernatural thriller. Others are definitely not related. So maybe it's somewhat connected or related but it's not horror.
