Hey everyone - question for you. I'm a fan of zombies and zombie culture. I was talking to my boss yesterday and he seems convinced that there have to be people out there that have seen zombies. I tried to tell him that zombies would be more of a mass outbreak on an apocalyptic level, but he's not convinced. So I am trying to find out if anyone really has had a one-on-one encounter with a zombie before I write it off altogether. I know about the Haitian voodoo and all of that - I'm looking more for a flesh-eating zombie of the American movie variety. Have you (or someone you know) seen a zombie? How did it happen?

There are no such thing, therefore I have not seen any. I suppose it is likely in the distant future to create one scientifically, but even that is highly unlikely.

Yes, on two counts: in the mountains of Peru, I encountered several cannibal natives who lived on the flesh of the living. They were, of course, not dead. Among the latter sort, I have seen corpses exhumed and revitalized along the lines of the "voodoo" practices you mention while living in New Orleans several years ago.

I am not aware of any natural undead zombie phenomena. Nor do I wish to be made aware of such cases, frankly. Zombies must be induced.
