Do you literally mean scary, or just good horror movies in general? Because I don't think anything from 2012 really scared me... sadly I've become a bit immune over the years.

I found the posession to be creepy.... thats as close to scary as it got for me. I have some v/h/s rage too. I kind of feel like I could make a better movie with finger and sock puppets.... and ketchup blood.

Sinister
V/H/S (not kidding)
The Woman in Black
Silent House
The Cabin in the Woods

Haven't seen Silent Hill: Revelations or The Collection yet so I can't speak for them.

The only one I found creepy was Sinister. It was unnerving to me. I saw it late on Halloween night too. So that set the tone even more lol.

There were not really that many really scary movies. The closest to being scary was Paranormal Activity 4 (supernatural films tend to scary almost automatically with the exception of The Exorcist). This film is absolutely terrible and is nowhere near as scary as its predecessors. The best film, on the other hand, was by far The Cabin in the Woods. This was one of the most brilliant horror films since Scream (1996). Just a note, this film was not really scary, just really good.

I agree with what has been said earlier here... "The Cabin in the Woods": Great movie, but just not scary...

I haven't seen Paranormal Activity 4, I didn't watch the 3rd one, got sick of them.

I really liked the first three, but the fourth was actually pretty stupid. Personally, I liked the third better than the second, but the first was the best in the series. I like these movies, in general, because sound-based supernatural horror films tend to scare me. As I mentioned, despite being terrible, the fourth one did scare me just because of the subject and the sound-based horror. It was nowhere near as scary as any of the other three though.

I admit to liking the first but hated the second and feel that the first should have remained a stand alone film. I thought V/H/S was better than Paranormal Activity

I definitely agree the first was much better than the second. The third was actually pretty good and far superior to the second as well. The fourth made the second look like a masterpiece. Additionally, I agree Paranormal Activity should have been a standalone, but it was the most successful film of all time and was made by a major studio. So, there was no way that there weren't going to make sequel(s).

I agree with you. I liked the third a lot better than the second one. I think they were the best as a theater experience. I did not see the 4th at that point I called it too much.

I also agree with everyone on here that Cabin in the Woods was the best horror film of 2012, it just was not a scary one.
