The objective is to produce a bona fide point of interest that others may not be aware of. It'll also give us a chance to show off, one up eachother and possibly correct a misconceived entry. I'm not sure if a similar thread already exists elsewhere but I'll get the ball rolling with the most obvious fact.
Did you know, Michael Myers mask is an adapted William Shatner Star Trek merchandise mask?

That would've sucked
Jackie Earle Haley who eventually played Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake originally auditioned for the role of Glen in the original and urged his friend Johnny Depp to come along who ended up getting the role.

Here's one I read, Linda Blair needed bodyguards for 6 months after the release of the Exorcist.
I would've thought she was more likely to have been murdered for making Savage Streets or Chained Heat! The Exorcist was a bloody good movie:)

That's a shame...
Here's one; Ruggero Deodato (check out his Hostel cameo) was arrested on suspicion of murder after CH was released due to the very realistic found footage nature of it in parts and the fact the actors went to ground immediately after release as part of a publicity stunt.

Yeap. They wanted it toned down so it would be alright for kids to watch. Good thing that didn't happen.

Karloff, Lugosi and Peter Lorre made one film together. It was a very minor Kay Kaiser musical and none of the three horror greats had any scenes together.

She lived in CT in the next town to mine and my dad use to go to the bars with her. He showed me her house once. You can drive through the forrest and look down onto her house and see it.

Can there have been a more exciting day in the history of sci fi?
Wow!
According to My Bloody Valentine (1981) makeup effects artist Thomas R. Burman one of his gory creations was realistic enough that director George Mihalka threw up at the sight of it.
Dana Plato, who would later become famous for the role of Kimberley Drummond on "Diff'rent Strokes," was originally offered the role of Regan MacNeil in The Exorcist.
Not long before filming "The Bride of Frankenstein" began, Colin Clive broke a leg in a horse riding accident. Consequently, most of Dr. Frankenstein's scenes were shot with him sitting.

Some Stuff I googled.
*Wes craven named Freddy Krueger after a bully at his school.
*The girl who plyed sally in TCM really cut her self while filming the runaway scene.
*In nightmare on elm street they had to use gallons of blood to film the killing scene in the bedroom with rod and that one girl.
*Kane Hodder played Jason Voorhees in f13th 6-8 and Jason X.
*Halloween was originally titled the babysitter murders.
*Halloween started in the 70s
*TCM was based on a true story about Ed Gein
*It took 3 people to move the Chucky doll around
*It took 24 hours to do Pinhead's makeup
*Dick Warlock played Michael Myers in Halloween 2
*The guy who played "Tallman" in Phantasm was 6'3.
1. When Jeepers Creepers writer/director Victor Salva was writing the script, he had Lance Henriksen in mind to play The Creeper.
2. While making TCM, Tobe Hooper wanted the film to have PG rating.
3. Wes Craven's Last House on The Left is still banned from Australia.
4. Before his film Psycho was released, Alfred Hitchcock went out and bought every novel of the film so nobody wouldn't find out the ending.
5. The film Scream was inspired by the real life murderer called "The Grainsville Ripper".
6. Psycho became the first film to featured a toilet.
The Giant Gate from the original King Kong was burned as part of the Atlanta burning scenes from Gone With the Wind.
Halloween was originally concieved to be a sequel to Black Christmas.
Carrie Fisher was supposed to play Carrie, but she didn't want to do the nude scene, so Brian DePalma and his buddy George Lucas (who were holding auditions at the same time ) who had just cast Sissy Spacek as Princess Leia in some film I can't remember the name too, decided that the actresses could switch roles if they agreed. They did.(there are different versions of this)
In the great Harryhausen film "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" the words to the spell that the evil wizard Koura( Dr Who's Tom Baker) uses to summon the Homoncules are actually "Silly rabbit, Tricks are for kids" and "I'm Cuckoo for Coco Puffs" said backwards
The author of The Omen , David Seltzer, also penned the script (uncredited final rewrite) to another famous movie...Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Jaws was the first movie in history to make 100 million dollars (not to shabby considering 1975 ticket prices and only opening on 400 screens)
Robert Shaw wrote the Indianapolis speech himself in Jaws .
In the novel Jaws ,Hooper identifies the shark as a Megalodon.
In Carpenter's The Thing this is what the Norwegian is screaming :"Stop, get the hell away! It's not a dog - it's just an imitation of a dog, it's a kind of thing. It imitates. Get the hell away from the dog you fucking idiots!"
(1) The young actor who portrayed mute vamp-to-be Laddie in THE LOST BOYS was also featured as the younger version of Lance Henriksen's Ed Harley character during the awesome PUMPKINHEAD prologue. He is credited as Chance Michael Corbitt in THE LOST BOYS and Chance Corbitt, Jr. in PUMPKINHEAD. I recognized him immediately (sans mullet) upon viewing the underrated PUMPKINHEAD again recently.
(2) Linda Miller, who portrayed Alice's mother in ALICE, SWEET ALICE is Jackie Gleason's daughter, which makes her the younger sister of Jason Miller (THE EXORCIST), and an aunt to Jason Patric (THE LOST BOYS) and Joshua Miller (NEAR DARK), who are both the sons of the late Father Damian Karras. Talk about Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon!
(3) Janet Leigh and Jamie Lee Curtis are best known for their Scream Queen roles in PSYCHO and HALLOWEEN, respectively. But Jamie's father Tony has also ventured out into the horror genre, in both well-received films (like the docu-thriller THE BOSTON STRANGLER) and low-budget shockers (BRAINWAVES and CHAMBER OF HORRORS). And the elder Curtis daughter Kelly (a major babe just like her sister) starred in a couple of grade-Z horror flicks (like DEMONS 4). Looks like horror films are in the blood with this family.
(4) Anne-Marie Martin, who played sexy bad girl Wendy in PROM NIGHT (where she was credited as Eddie Benton), is married to JURASSIC PARK author Michael Crichton. The couple wrote the screenplay for TWISTER.
Susuan Blu, who played Tina's mother in Friday the 13 part 7, is best known for voice directing and giving a voice to many cartoons.
Wes Craven got his idea for A Nightmare on Elm Street from 3 different newspaper articles in the LA times.
Nicole Kidman was originally supposed to play the lead in Panic Room, but was replaced by Jodie Foster. A smart move I say.
In the original draft for Scream, Dewey was supposed to die.
Scream 2 had several drafts done and everyone involved had to agree not to let word get out about anything major in the movie.
New Line Cinema is also known as the house that Freddy built.
Frank Darabont (directed Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile) did rewrites for NOES 3 after Bruce Wagner and Wes Craven gave an initial script.
Michael De Luca, who wrote the screenplay for Freddy's dead, was fired last year from New Line Cinema and now works for Dreamworks.
NOES 4 was written by Brian Helgeland, who went on to write the novel adaptation LA Confidential. ALso Payback starring Mel Gibson which he also directed.
Only two characters ever survived through two whole NOES movies. They are Alice and Nancy if you include New Nightmare.
Drew Barrymore was first choice to play Sidney Prescott in Scream.
also ****rumor**** Jamie Lee Curtis was born a hermaphrodit or a XY female????
Anyone heard of that?
