If I think of anything I will let you know.
I basically watch horror films rather than read horror books.

Death to the Brothers Grimm, a new horror tome.
Great Tales of Terror and the Supernatural (Modern Library)
The Dark Descent
That should get you started. Sfear will probably show up with some good recommendations. It depends on what kind of horror you like.

I know Stephen King's an obvious one, but Black house is one of my fave books ever, and thats full of gore. this one genuinely scared me hah.
As is the one I'm reading at the moment. its an e-book called the Children of Manson. Its been really good so far- sex is implied but again, full of gore, and good concept behind it too.
hmmmm others...
For something a little more old school classic horror "The pan book of horror stories" is a good one. its all short stories but i liked them. no gore though really... its got the old fashioned syle to it. genius in its own way in my opinion.
will try to think of some more.

If this is for real I periodically come across "extreme" horror collections that might fit this bill but don't recall any titles. You gotta porn shop in town? Other than that any anthology of new horror fiction ought to contain something in a like vein.

Now that's what I call narrowing it down, lol. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the Splatterpunks, try Richard Laymon, John Skipp & Craig Spector, Joe R. Lansdale, Robert Devereaux, Ray Garton, Ryan Harding, Dave Brockie (a.k.a. Oderus Urungus, lead vocalist of GWAR), Ed Lee, hell just go to Deadite Press's website http://deaditepress.com/, if you're into gore and nastiness then that would be the place to check out.

try Daemonic by Stephen Laws or Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill.
And of course anything by the master Stephen King.

Agreed with Bob's list. Those are good authors. Also I would say one of Joe Hill's books, either "Heart-Shaped Box" or "Horns".
After you decide, let us know what you went with :)

The more recommendations the better, right?
They can't go wrong if they go right to Deadite Press. And cheap!

Hell House by Richard Matheson probably the best haunted house story I have ever read. I've read it four times and I still get creeped out.
