Here is an interesting question with an interesting story behind it:

When I was a young child I had the unfortunate incident of viewing a particularly scary horror movie with frightened me for several nights thereafter. I have no idea when this movie was made or whether it made it to theatre or was a lowly "B" flick. I saw this movie in the mid-late eighties.

I have never been able to remember the name (I probably never knew it to begin with), but I am able to recall a couple of scenes that may allow a horror buff to help define its title. Please help if you can:

Rememberance #1: Part (or all) of the movie takes place at a building (be it a residence or otherwise) in the middle of what I guess is a forest. There are a group of characters trying to escape this place by vehicle, but all of the roads mysteriously lead back to the building. There's no way out!!!

Rememberance #2: In one scene, a woman (I think) is eating supper with a group of other people when a large bone is lodged in her throat. She is choking horribly and if I remember correctly, they vividly and graphically cut her throat to allow her to breathe.

Rememberance #3: In another scene, someone is swimming in a pool and a sheet of glass spreads across the surface, effectively drowning her.

These are the only bits that I can remember, so if you can help me out, you'd be solving a question that has plagued me for YEARS!!!

Thanks!
-Nick.

It's called The Legacy. (1978)

couple of links here

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079450/

A quote from someone on a message board about The Legacy:-

'This movie made me afraid to swim under water for years, i was only 8 at the time, but now 32 i still think about the water turning to glass when im under it, scarred me for life i guess.'
