^ Well there ya go.
I don't mean to piss off all the wrestling fans but I could never understand the appeal of watching two sweaty beefy dudes in their underwear, pretending to beat up each other. Maybe its me...but I dont get it.

Check out ECW. There's no way to fake a piece of glass that goes all the way through your jaw and out the other side. That's some real, hardcore shit right there.

I always find it entertaining when people who don't watch/follow wrestling call it fake. It's not 'fake', it's scripted. The outcomes are predetermined. But there is no way to 'fake' jumping 20 feet off the top of a ladder through a table. There's no stunt doubles. There's no special FX. It isn't a sport. It's sports entertainment. The people in the industry haven't claimed it was 'real' (non-predetermined) for decades. Everyone knows this. Yet, sure enough, every time someone mentions wrestling there are inevitably a few a non-fans that feel the need to point out that it's 'fake', like they are doing us (fans) a favor by letting us in on the secret. We're the ones that watch it. We know damn well what goes on. It's not 'fake', only predetermined. There is a difference.
The best analogy I can make here would be me going up to some girl who is watching Days of Our Lives and telling her that it's not real. "No fucking shit?" she would say. "Nope, it's fake. The producers already know how Jessica gets out of the abandoned well just like they already know the answer to the mystery of who killed Dmitri." (I don't watch that show, I'm just making an example.) Obviously everyone knows soap operas are scripted, just as everyone knows wrestling is scripted. Wrestling is, quite simply, a soap opera that targets a male audience.
If it was 'fake', then anyone would be able to do it because there would be no skill involved whatsoever. Clearly, that's not the case. I highly doubt that anyone in this forum would be willing to put their body through the punishment that a pro-wrestlers puts theirs through several times a week. A guy named Mick Foley had his tooth knocked through his upper lip. Another guy, Owen Hart, died in the ring. Every couple of monthes a wrestler dies because of an addiction to painkillers. Why would they be taking so many painkillers if it was all fake? The answer is because it's not 'fake'. The outcome being predetermined doesn't mean that pro wrestlers are not putting their bodies, health and in some cases, lives on the line every time they go out there to entertain the masses.

It's not just 2 beefy dudes either. Have you seen the amount of T&A on WWE programming these days? It borders on indecent.

Owens manager: Just don't touch the harness...
Owen: What, like thi.......aaaaaaaaagh!
The facts: The stuntwork is real, and DOES take a certain amount of skill to pull off...the "fighting" and "characters" however, are fake.
UFC always looked more real...was it?
And hey....where's JCW on your list???

Yeah it is...only ever saw it once, and I don't know if it actually exists outside of a few dvds...?
Wrestling could always use some comedy - thet's why I likes LaParka, that chair strummin' freak...

HAHAHA La Parka! I forgot all about that guy!
If you are ever in the mood to laugh hard go try to find The Shockmaster WCW debut on Kazaa. That is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Remember Tugboat/Typhoon from the old days of WWF? Well he went to WCW and they really hyped his arrival. His new name was The Shockmaster and he wore a really gay costume with a stupid mask. Anyways, as he's coming out the curtains for his first appearance ever on WCW television, he trips and falls. Obviously, that is not the way to make his character look like the dominating brute they were trying to make him out to be. He was gone within a month.
Lmao. It's a really funny clip. Check it out if you can find it. I would try searching 'WCW Shockmaster' and something will probably come up.

OK, you present an intelligent argument, Brian. Much better than the neanderthal reply such as "fuck off ass wipe" that I expected from a fan of said "sports entertainment". That being said I shall retract my trailer trash comment. But as far as wrestling goes my opinion hasn't changed. And I do realize it is scripted and predetermined. I just don't get the "entertainment" part of it. Sure I used to watch it when I was but a wee boy, but I kinda lost interest as my voice changed and I started growing hair in all the naughty places. But I guess its why we have chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Every one has different taste and I shouldn't begrudge anyone for their particular interest. I happen to like chocolate chip ice cream if anyone cares. So I say....let peace befall us all in horror.com land and to all....a good night.
never was a big fan of sprinkles either;)

another wrestling thread not to b rude but can u make a thread thats a none wrestling one????
and i agree w/ newb he makes valid points on wrestling and bwind22 makes a good point also. i have been to an event b4 w/ my ex bf and i was close like 5 rows away from ring and even from there i could see when he wnet to punch they guy he didn't evn touch his face but he still fell over. i am not a wrestling fan i was at one time but is pathetic and its not very entertaining seeing 2 guys in there undies fight. so i still think it sux say waht u want but i don't like it
