Plot from Wikipedia
Sinister follows the character of Ellison (Ethan Hawke), a true-crime novelist that purchases a new home with the hopes of writing a successful book. After moving into his new home he discovers a box of old home movies that depict previous families that lived in the house as well as their murders. As Ellison looks further into the mystery behind the tapes, he discovers that the murders all have ties to a supernatural deity known only as "Bagul". Bagul exists in images of himself and runs the risk of making Ellison's family the latest casualty of the house.

Thanks, nifty promotion tool. Is this movie going to make it to the states before Halloween?

It comes out Oct. 5
It is solid and creepy, but not as scary as V/H/S

Really want to see V/H/S. I've read that a lot of people have already seen it, but for some reason it's not on NetFlix yet.
At the top of my queue though.

might have to watch that v.h.s,i know it wont be very scary though coz every time someone says a movie is the scariest or best movie ever they are setting themselves up for failure

I'm actually really looking forward to this one as well as V/H/S. I'm such a sucker for the "found footage" style. Not sure if I'll fork out the money to go to the theater (audiences are so incredibly rude nowadays that I can barely stand it), but I'll definitely check it out when it hits Netflix.
Hope that it winds up being one of the better ones.

I really can't wait for this movie. Not because I think it'll be the best thing ever, but because it looks fun as hell.

It seems that the successful or mildly successful horror movie nowadays are ghosts or demonic entities. I guess what sells is what sells but where are the slasher impervious to pain men that ran rampant many years ago? Anywho, getting side tracked, I saw this movies trailer (sinister) months ago and I hope I can see it opening night.

Same here. This one looks like a pretty good theater movie.

"Tis high on my waiting list too! I like how Insidious had the old lady in the photographs getting steadily closer, and with this we have that theme taken to its conclusion.

This has to be better than the last horror film I saw at the cinema (The Possession). Everyone I know that managed to see a pre-release said it's one of the best in recent years.

Haven't seen sinister, anyone who can recommend it? That'd be great. It's just because I heard a lot of bad things about it and i'm afraid that it wouldn't be worth watching
Thank you in advance :D
I think Sinister is definitely worth checking out.
I guessed what was going to happen early on and I was right on how it would end so it wasn't any great mystery to me. I don't think it's anything you probably haven't seen before, but it does have some "generally creepy atmosphere" that I feel makes it worth seeing at least once.

Sinister was not bad, but it was pretty predictable and had many cliches in it. Not great but good. Scary? ..Maybe partly.
