I was a pre-teen in the 80's but yeah it was pretty great, then the 90's came along and the music was the big thing, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots.

I caught the tail end of it all (from '87 onwards). I always would read Fangoria and watch the cut (sometimes uncut) versions on TV. I'd love to go back in time and walk through a few of the horror sections in video shops I remember as a kid. Much better flicks than what lines the shelves these days.

Ah, you wouldn't have hated it had you been a white lower class teenager in the 90's. It was a really great time for music, you know, at least for me. I was pretty heavy into the punk scene back then too, but I liked old 70's and 80's punk slightly better than the 90's punk. The Industrial Rock and Metal scene made its mark on me heavily in the 90's too. Some of my best memories my man! :)

For some reason I had the idea that you were several years younger than me. Anyway, growing up in an extremely religious family, grunge and classic rock was the easiest kinds of music for me to access, it got played on the radio a lot more than industrial, punk, and metal which seems like it could be where your dislike for it comes from, the fact that it was more mainstream. The fashion was a little easier for my mom and dad to accept as well. You may not care for it too much but I'm proud of my grunge roots, it was great music at a great time.

you probably thought i was younger coz im dumb an immature
.i cant say that i hated grunge like i do today, society did make me have to listen to it alot!.i didnt mind "tool" "the offspring" the "deftones"and stuff.(dont even think that shit was on the radio anyway ,but was still in with the cool kids)
But i was more happy getting stoned wagging school going surfing and skating listening to NOFX, Lagwagon, Pulley, Good riddance, melencollin, pennywise and maybe :o sublime.wasn't the most popular music to listen to in my school and now all that's considered to be pop punk but....it did give me the best memories of those days

Yeah, I listened to NOFX, Lagwagon, Pennywise, TOOL, The Offspring, The Deftones, and Sublime too. I liked Ween, The Butthole Surfers, The Flaming Lips, Bad Religion, Rancid, The Melvins, The Pixies, and Greenday as well. Eventually I started to graduate to some of the older 70's and 80's punk rock like The Stooges, The Ramones, The Dead Kennedy's, The Sex Pistols, The Misfits, The Germs, Black Flag, Minor Threat, The Circle Jerks, Agent Orange, Fugazi, damn I could go on and on about punk rock. Punk rock gradually led me into the Goth and Industrial scene with the Nails and Ministry but also bands like Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, Christian Death, KMFDM, Lycia, Razed in Black, and of course Marilyn Manson. Metal became a favorite of mine at that time too, Pantera, White Zombie, Slayer, Metallica(before they went soft), Selpultura, Corrosion of Conformity, Megadeth, Kyuss, Type O Negative, Fear Factory, Neurosis and it was around the mid 80's I believe when Meshuggah and In Flames got popular. I could talk about bands that I liked all day Wiz. :D
