Original Saw film tipped for remake

Lionsgate is reportedly considering a remake of its 2004 horror hit, but has not ruled out the possibility of an eighth film.

I can see te point in remaking older things to bring them into the now in terms of special effects like CGI that weren't avaliable back when the originals were made.

But Saw? It was out in 2004! What justice do they think a remake is going to serve?

*facepalm*

There are so many Saw movies I can't even remember the last one I watched. I believe Julie Benz was in it. I think only the first was interesting. Maybe good.

they need to end the franchise for about ten years. give ppl time to miss it, then bring it back with a new and fresh approach.

I really dont rate Saw movies. The first was admittedly right out there when it first came out but I dont think anyones hungry enough for it to be remade.
What more can they bring to the pot?

Since the first SAW released, it's been really long time as they follows dog years, I guess. The same thing probably going to also happen with Paranormal Activity movies as that's turning out another profitable franchise. Within 2020, they will reboot PA also.

I think it's all about making money nowadays. Instead of coming up with new and original ideas for a movie, the film companies would rather take something tried and true and re-boot it. Sometimes it works (Texas Chainsaw) and other times it doesn't (Nightmare On Elm Street.)
