At least 12 people are dead and 38 were injured after a man opened fire on a crowd at a The Dark Knight Rises screening in Colorado early Friday morning, local police confirm.
According to various reports, at approximately 12:30 a.m. a man in a gas mask stood in front of a crowd during a screening of the film at a mall multiplex in Aurora and went on a shooting rampage. He set off a smoke bomb before opening fire.
Ten were reportedly killed at the scene, and the rest died at local hospitals, including a 6-year-old. Among the dead were members of the military, according to a Pentagon spokesman. The youngest victim was a 3-month-old, who was treated at a hospital and released.
The suspect, who police did not immediately identify but is believed to be in his early 20s, was reportedly wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a rifle, handgun and knife. Another gun was purportedly recovered at the theater.
Authorities have now ID'd the suspect as 24-year-old James Holmes, a former medical student originally from San Diego.

Yes, I heard about this as I came home from watching the movie...
It'll probably really hurt both sales over the coming week, and the reboot will have this mark on it too.
Pretty fucked up though, makes you wonder about the mentality of the shooter - I wonder if he's pulling a "Mister Glass" and trying to find a real Batman?

^Agreed with Nathan Fillion.
Anyway...I'm pretty interested into why he did this and his personality, etc. I'm in a Neuropsych program which is an offshoot of Neuroscience so it's really weird to think that someone in a program like mine would do something so...sophisticated and horrific. According to authorities, he recently dyed his hair red and told the police that he was "the Joker". His apartment has also been booby-trapped so sophisticatedly that they're essentially going to blow up the apartment, from what they're saying on the news.
I feel so bad for those people, their families, and the family of the shooter. I also hate that because of this, AMC theaters are banning costumes so all of those people who worked hard on their's or who were excited to celebrate can no longer do that because someone had to ruin it for everyone.
I've heard that one woman couldn't find her friend and someone finally notified her that they saw her being dragged out by the smoke and taken to a hospital and that's the last time anyone has seen her. It's been hours and she has no idea what's happened to her- I feel awful for them.

Медвежуть, I know you've made it your thing to try and seem edgy and shocking with the things you say...but honestly?
Tone it down a bit.
You overplay it so much that it just seems more like you're the annoying little brother that doesn't know how to conduct himself in public and embarrasses their family.
There's the difference between a chuckle at an inappropriate time, and pissing on someones grave.
So yeah, if there's a real person in there somewhere maybe let them out to play every once in a while.

are you really sad cause some people you don't even know got shot? someone dies almost every second in every possible way. millions of people each year. many of them suffered a lot more than those batman fans. but only about these 14 we'll be sad, cuz they showed it on TV...:(
You don't have to be sad about it but you don't have to act like a douchebag either.
You're like that kid who tries to stand out and be cool by ragging on everything and always saying wrong things at the wrong time. Lighten up and just relax dude.

but you don't have to be so serious about either. 14 people more, 14 people less. what difference does it make, really?
the funniest thing is that right away there are tons of interviews of victims' relatives and friends who all talk what an angel some dead chick or dude was.
Certain tragic events are played up more then others and some are just completely ignored but this is horrible. A bunch of people were murdered for no reason and it is serious for those who lost someone. No one here seems to have lost anyone so i can understand your point about people not taking it so seriously but from what i've read, no one is. They're reacting like normal human beings react.

yep, they're just saying wat they been taught is a right thing to say. but does anyone (other than dead dudes relatives) actually give a shit that they died? nope.
that's all wat i'm trying to say
And how do you know how or what I, or anyone else feels? Not everyone in the world is an unsympathetic, immature asshole.
You're not impressing anyone.

Obviously they do care, not as much as a relative or close friend would but they still care.
You don't, that's fine. That's your heartless cold opinion and you're entitled to it but you don't have to try and make a joke out of it. Obviously you don't care if you offend people but you gotta expect a certain backlash for your behavior. If you don't want people to attack you for the horrible things you say, don't say them.
However you probably do want people to comment because you want the attention which is just pathetic and sad.

Медвежуть,
Honestly?
I don't give a shit that people died...but I'm not about to make light of it either.
My comment was more based on your general conduct in this and other threads.
By now it's clear I'm not the only one that feels this way.
Your act is getting a bit stale.

I have a feeling we may have to wait until the trial unless something gets leaked in the meantime. I watched the police department press conference last night and it was stated very firmly and repeatedly that if they know anything, they're not going to tell the press and that they'll just have to wait for the trial.

As for the youngest victim, 6-year-old Veronica Moser-Sullivan, whose mother Ashley Moser remains in critical condition suffering gunshot wounds to the throat and abdomen, her great-aunt Annie Dalton shared with ABC: "Nobody can tell her [Ashley] about it...She is in critical condition, but all she's asking about is her daughter." Dalton also revealed the young girl had just begun swimming lessons and "was excited about life."
May they all rest in peace.

So i went and saw Dark Knight Rises today and suddenly they shut the movie off right in the middle and turn on all the lights. They then told us they were going to move us to another theater because the air wasn't working in that one and it was too hot. It was kind of annoying but in light of the shooting, it probably wasn't the most tactful move to make.

cuz he had a gun=)
that's what happens when you give people too many rights. this dude is just one of "responsible gun owners" who say that they buy them for their protection, lol.
i'm waiting for the official interview with him too. they wrote he's refusing to talk to police for now
yes gun laws in america are an awsome thing.if ya get bullied or just hate the world or your a psychotic weirdo in nz,you cant just go blow everyone a way ya have to learn to use ya fists or even better,go and see a psychologist!

nah, psychologists are for pussies. and anyone who kills teenagers for any reason(either for bulling, or anything else) is a decent person and automatically has my blessing. cuz teenagers are fuckin annoying kind of people. i remember myself at that age and i'd shoot myself too. for this reason "Cain Rose Up" is one of my favorite King' stories

Gotta admit, that made me laugh too. That's not making fun of the tragedy, just making a joke.
